If you are contemplating a Tacoma as a daily driver, do not let the critics deter you. Make no mistake: IT IS A TRUCK, and will not accelerate, handle, brake, or ride like a car. With that said, after 7 months of daily driving (and shifting) I don't see any other vehicle on the road that I'd rather be driving.

Critics love to trash this truck; owners love to drive them.

Agreed. I see a lot of bad reviews but every time I read the main points I’m like, yup it’s a midsize truck… :notsure:

Mine has been my daily since i got new in 2017. I still enjoy driving it but lately have been contemplating a sporty 4 door sedan for my daily and keeping the truck for weekend hauls and BS

A truck is a truck, you want a sport car, buy one. You want both, work hard and get both!!

    Right on!

I have no problems with speed or handling. I often find myself coming up behind expensive sport sedans as they refuse to exercise their grip in corners. Left many behind from the apex out also. Just gives me laughs.

Goes the speed limit and a little bit faster. It's all I need.

I can still hoon it a bit. Both on and off road.

On my third Tacoma, they have been my daily driver since 2012. No complaints from me.

I do 120 miles/~3 hours a day in mine during the week. It makes a great DD. Some commutes I average 24+ MPG in the 6MT.

Maintenance, while easy to do, is more frequent than shitbox sedans or CUVs and adds up when you put down ~30k miles a year.

Daily driver since 2007 before that I had a g1 Tacoma. My 8 and 10 year olds can already shift the manual transmission...

It's a truck and people bag on it. Till they need a tow, or couch moved.

I have noticed on the forum that for many posters this is their very first truck and further many came from sporty cars.

The original owner of my truck came from a VW GTI and only kept the Tacoma 11,000 miles, I guess the truck thing wasn't for him.

I dunno… mine has plenty of ‘get up and go’. Just got to put some oomph on the pedal. Of course that opens the door for the “my gas mileage sucks” critics, but hey… pick your poison and live a little :burp:

I love my ‘19 every bit as much as I loved my ‘05.

Other than the occasional lemon owner, I'm thinking a lot of the whining comes from soccer dad types who want to look awesome at Lowe's and the practice fields, but have been spoiled to plush by other models or marquees.

They really need Ridgelines for their purposes.

They certainly didn't take their first venture in the truck world with a 3/4 ton 4 speed L6 Chevy.:rofl:

Although I did add an AM radio.

I had a blast working on and driving that thing. It loved gas stations and hauling/towing heavy stuff.

My Sport is daily driver and made for street driving. It's slow to react when I give the pedal my heavy foot (not often but lately I've been doing it more often).

I try to fill up at 1/2 tank instead of when it's below 1/4 tank. I get at least 360-370 miles to 1 full tank of gas...almost 17 mpg.

My normal commute is 25 each way. I've put 12000 miles on my truck since I got it end of July. Bought it because I wanted somethign I could use as a daily driver and still go have some fun with. Is it absolutely perfect as a commuter or an overlander? Nope. There are tradeoffs. But, being able to throw a couple totes in the back after work and head out is what it's all about.

There are a lot of bad reviews both here and otherwise because we live in a world full of people that have never owned a truck who now buy trucks.

Trucks were better when truck people bought trucks.
