Mine is my DD by default. Bought it for tow duty in the summer and 4x4 duty in the winter, but I only have space for one vehicle. Entering year 4 of service, 2018 with 30k miles. No issues save the usual ones. All addressed. :)

A few, mainly added skids. I like leaving the suspension alone. I drive forest service dirt roafs in the desert west extremely extremely too fast. Toyota nailed this suspension going 65 across desert terrain. Changing it is dumb unless you have a specific need like crawling or mud.

I daily drive my mine also. I knew it wasn't going to be the fastest. That wasn't the reason I bought it. If I feel the need for speed and banging gears I'll just hop in my boosted 6 speed Cobra. I'm ok with a slow auto for a dd.

Sue me if I don't belong in the 3G forum, but I learned to drive in a 2010 E-350 (the real econoline) and also daily drove a 1989 Bronco for the better part of a year. I have only owned a handful of vehicles, but my 2G Taco is my absolute favorite thus far. Hoping to get into a 3G sooner or later OR see what comes of the 4G.

My '21 TRD Off-Road is my first truck. I bought it to daily and do stupid shit in on the dirt. It does everything I need it to do and I'm very happy with it, and looking forward to taking it to the sand dunes in MI next summer. It's a bonus that the kiddo loves "daddy's cool pickup truck." BUT, I also have a new Highlander for long hauls with the family and a new Supra to hit the track and get my speed fix in. If it were our only car, I would be hard pressed to have chosen it. Do I miss not ripping down a highway on-ramp in some German sports sedan on my way to work? Yes. But not being in jail is nice as is doing donuts in a muddy field.

Have been daily driving Toyota trucks for 30 years, before that was a ‘76 F-250 for 3 years. Had girlfriends with cars, used them occasionally, but come to find out don’t really like cars. Though compared to some of our work trucks, 2.5 Tons, Tri-Axle Dumps, etc. Tacoma does feel like a lifted car with an open air trunk.

With my ECU tune, driving my tacoma through city streets is an acceptable experience. At least, now, it goes when i tell it to

off road its drives very well

Mines a Toy. I hate cars, and didn't really need a truck. But it's also my DD.

I had no clue that most people that own a 3rd Gen Tacoma needed to be reassured that it could be daily driven.

    Great post!

It is a little weird, can daily drive anything you want. In my area lotsa people DD 3/4-1 Tons, though it is Idaho…I get teased for driving a “Chick Truck”, tell ‘em I am perfectly fine with my masculinity, have no need to overcompensate. lol!

I don't drive mine daily, 2017 with just 22k miles. It is my favorite driver though. It's just cheaper upkeep driving a 2012 Impala when work commute = 20k miles a year. And 2016 JKU Rubicon....I got too many vehicles :anonymous:

I really enjoy my truck as a daily. Loved my tundra also but call me crazy I prefer to drive the Tacoma for a daily.

You bring up a good point. I have the new KDMAX-Pro tune and the v6 tune before that. It made it an acceptable daily driver on the streets. It's truly amazing the difference it made and I would recommend it to anyone who would needs to do things like "accelerate from a stop" or "merge into traffic." Could just be in my head, but the -Pro tune made the motor a bit more torquey in the low/mid-range, which is much appreciated with this V6 specifically.

Mine was bought with the intent to daily drive, tow my pop up camper and carry bikes and other outdoor gear.
It was bought to replace a turbo diesel jeep Liberty CRD that had an Old man emu suspension so I already had something that wasn't fast and wasn't exactly smooth. I don't like low cars. Last car I actually had was a Subaru outback sedan which was a slightly higher car.

It definitely drives like a pickup or 4x4 because it is but it's smooth enough for me. At the time I was looking around it was the only thing that really seemed right for me.
