My 2016 DCSB TRD OR (auto) in MGM was totalled thanks to a drunk driver. I REALLY enjoyed the truck and feel like I did get a good deal on it at the time of purchase. For $30,xxx (before tax, title, ect) I had a truck with 30k miles, certified pre owned, tech package, new tires, weather tech mats, and bed cover.

Things I liked about the truck:
    Perfect size for a DD.
    Awesome mpg for a truck(avg 20)
    Never got stuck.
    Looked amazing!
Power everything, sunroof, & heated seats.

    Things I didn't like:
Cruise control on the freeway always hunting for gears.
No torque low in rpm range.
    No factory remote start!!!

I loved that little truck and it saved the lives of my family. I will be starting over unfortunately though and just want some other peoples views/suggestions on what would fit me best. I have a family of 3 with a bun in the oven. Looking for a solid long term investment. I need a truck due to work and a rental property. I keep my vehicles forever and can easily run something for 10+ years.

The only other truck I can really consider at this time is the Ram 1500 ecodiesel.
    Pros:
    Leather
    Heated steering wheel.
    REMOTE START!!!
    cooled seats.
    More room.

    Cons:
I don't trust the engineering as much.
    New engine in u.s. trim.
I'm not sure if it is as safe.

Any help on finding or suggesting a new truck would be greatly appreciated. I would like to keep the price around $30k. Thanks in advance!

    Lol!
I want a Tundra but feel like I will miss the Tacoma. Plus I can't do 14mpg.

I was in a similar buying situation and went from a 2016 Access Cab to a 2018 Double Cab. I'd do it like this:

If you want/need a full size, don't consider a Taco

If you want a mid size, you know what to do :p

Tundra's are work trucks. Tacoma's are play trucks. Make a choice!

I would love a TRD Pro but will not spend an extra $10k for suspension, leather, badges, smoked lights, and one off paint. If it had a twin turbo 3.5L I would say "shut up and take my money!!!" As far as the tundra I feel like an all new one will come out within a year or two and I will regret getting the old one. I know all vehicles lose vaule but I think the tacoma will hold it better than a tundra similarly equipped.

Too many but also not enough mods
Maybe go for a slightly used f150 or Silverado. Its that or go for another Tacoma

I called my 2010 Platinum Tundra my Man Van, tons of space, like an amazing, amazing amount of space and storage for kids and activities.

Traded the Tundra for a 4runner in 2016, love it, wife drives it. Just got my tacoma as my commuter and we've traveled a little as a family, a little more practical for a daily commuter/driver. Less space, but enough for 2 kids and a dog.

The new tacomas have leather seats and will run forever. Since you already loved your old one you know it'd be a good choice.

But if you're going to look for something different I'd stay away from the Dodge. Look at a slightly used tundra. Very reliable and safe, and more room for your kids. It's like a tacoma but more liveable for the family.

Toyota spends $1000 and charges you $10,000. Huge margins on these trucks.
