So i walked into the parking deck after work to find shattered glass.

The good news is, as always, i never leave anything in my truck so nothing was stolen. And double good news because they only broke the center glass on the sliding window.

Bad news is i called around and they dont sell just the sliding glass piece....(aka the easiest, cheapest piece of glass you could ever replace if they only sold that piece by itself).

You have to buy the whole gdamn rear window assembely that cost $1,000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! JUST FOR THE PART. WTF?!?!?!?!?!

Any thoughts or advice would be much appreciated.

what if you save the hardware for that little window and take it to a glass shop and see if they could rebuild it?

It's called comprehensive. I busted one of mine out. Cost me a C-note.

Just go to your local glass guy and he could cut and install the glass for you

A second vote for a glass shop. I would think that a competent glass professional could fabricate a new piece of glass and install it for less than the cost of an entire rear window. You can also keep a few bucks out of your local dealer's pocket - Always a good thing!

You don't really care, do you.
After having 6 vehicles broken into (always broken glass) I make sure I have 100% glass coverage on my insurance. $0 deductible. It will pay for itself with the first window you need replaced.

The only cheap temporary remedy would be polarized plexiglass since that glass curves

Glass is usually covered under the comprehensive part of your insurance, and normally replaced with no deductible.
