I had a 2nd gen 2005 and 2011 both good trucks. 2016 is a good truck also. It has had it flaws which were corrected but the 2nd gen had its also.

Well it seems as though I (and perhaps some others here) owe Kerrdog an apology. He does in fact appear to own a Third Gen. So I will now be eating crow in the woodshed, if anyone needs me. [IMG]

It should be readily apparent in the general context of the model year changes (regardless of brand), and in changes to vehicle specification in particular.

In short, IBTL on new 2015s.

The iphone send function is problematic for email and posting to facebook. Who knows why. If you tried more than one time, you gave it your best.

An alternative method is to plug your phone into a pc or mac with the usb charge cable. On the pc you need to let the driver install. Unplug and plug it in again. At that point on the pc or mac, you should be able to see the picture folders like any other drive. Copy and paste at will.

No doubt in my mind you have a good truck. I have owned 2 2nd gens my self. I also think even tho it has not been out long enough to prove itself. I think the 3rd gen. has the potential. There is things I like better about the 2nd gen and things I like better about the 3rd gen. only time will tell.

Raptor 4" oval rails, OEM door sill protectors, totally debadged, OEM mud guards, OEM bed mat, OEM S/S tail pipe extension, BDT tailgate letters, Weather Tech sun screen.

Very similar situation: Ill-fitting rear door window seal...fixed. Low transmission fluid...fixed. Holes in suspension...fixed with plugs. Transmission Calibration per TSB...done. Squeaking passenger side front bushing...replaced/problem solved. IMO, all these issues were relatively minor and quickly corrected. With the exception of the transmission fluid (overnight stay for the truck) all the other issues were corrected while I waited at the dealership (never more than 1 hour). Now after 8 months and 8K miles I have also really enjoyed my truck. The last sentence of "kerrdog's" post is SPOT ON as far as I'm concerned.

So just taking this at face value, you guys would rather have a Tacoma in the shop being repaired (non-operational) than to have a chevy or ford midsized truck that you can drive? Makes sense.......o_O

Yes cause in my opinon in the long run my tacoma will be fixed ,back at home and will never see the shop as much as the Colorado or Ranger.

Smitty,I know you said you have had diff problems and had it replaced 2 times if I am correct. Have you considered that maybe your dealerships shop is not worth a dam. I have bought a lot of toyotas over the years from 3 different dealerships. All my repairs were corrected with only one visit to them with the exception of a water leak inside my cab which took several trips to finally get the leak located and fixed. If my diff is not given me no problems then there is no reason for yours given you problems unless your shop is subpar.

It's not just me. There are a bunch of us with the issue and at least a handful that are already on our 2nd differential which is starting to howl/whine. View here: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/poll-rear-end-noise-howling-when-feathering-throttle.442341/

I have discovered that not all mechanics at a dealership can fix your problem. When I use a dealerships mechanic one that has done me right in the past then that mechanic is the only one I allow to work on my truck. I can tell you about a good example of what I am talking about with a power steering sounding problem I had with my 2011 Tacoma. Maybe the mechanic that worked on your diff the first time and didn't fix it was also the one that worked on it the 2nd time and didn't fix it.
