What i just did was push eq's 7/8 for sub over more to the left The last eq number 10 is on 100 hz now.

I’m truthfully not certain what the difference would be between adjusting the gains in one location versus the other. I suppose you could also cut the other outputs to compensate, but you might run out of volume on the high end.

Very true..Ill try these settings i just did bu moving them over some and i still have all set to 0db so it will be flat on the sub...One thing for sure..It sounds way better since you helped me out and im more happy with it then i ever been.

The position of the eq’s left to right are inconsequential if they are all at zero. I wouldn’t change the eq positions, you’re more looking to balance the speaker zones.

Because all the eq points are at zero, it doesn’t matter where they are at left to right. Might as well not be there. I’ll post a picture of mine tomorrow, it’s basically flat with a 1 or two dB bump up at 45 and 65 I think. Broad Q for smooth curve. But this not really going to give you extra volume on the sub. You’d have to do that with gains on the sub channels. Or cuts on all the others.

You should be able to bump your sub a little using the stereo's sub control. If you set up your stereo with everything set flat in the head unit, there's some headroom there for you to pump it up (or down). You can't go + on the DSP ouptut gains because 0dB is all the way up. If you set up your amplifier input sensitivity with the JL TwK already at full output you'll only be able to go down using the DRC control knob.

You can go +2 or +3 on the subwoofer out in the stereo, and then use the DRC control knob to turn the sub down and up for on the fly subwoofer balance.

As far as sub EQ goes, it's hard to tell you if you need to do anything since I can't put a microphone in your truck. EQ is supposed to be used to tame anything that is out of control, not to make increases in output level. If your sub is flat you shouldn't touch it, but you can't tell without an RTA or an incredible ear. Right now what I have is +3dB at 40Hz with the Q set to 1.5, and -3 at 100Hz with a Q of 2 to help the roll off some.

Sorry for the delay, I know I owed you pictures of my set up. This is morel hybrids 6.5” running active with two JL 10w3v3’s for subs. This is all going through my vx1000/5i amp which has this DSP integrated into the amp. It’s brilliant.

I’ve been playing with my settings for a couple of weeks now and I’m starting to get to a spot where I like what I hear. Below are my eq’s for tweets and subs. Followed by my output trims. The eq’s are relatively flat, but the output trims seems to be the hardest for me to balance. My mids are clear but seem to lack the bass I expected. That’s why I have them set for a pretty high gain. The tweets are loud so I’ve had to cut them significantly. I have the subs set for a high gain so I can modulate output with my DRC knob. I have about 4 different preset configurations for evaluating sound changes on these settings, but I can tell I’m getting close to a decent baseline because all the tunes are starting to look the same.

It’s crazy how much control a person has with the dsp. An experienced person can make great use for this. It’s has taken me a while to get up to speed with it. I have learned a whole lot though. I think if I were to do it again, I would have gotten the VX800/8 and separate non dsp amp for the subs. I think that would’ve given me more flexibility for adding a third component up front or rears. Although as it is I’m happy with the all in one amp that does it all. Super compact and easy to fit just about anywhere.

One thing that stands out to me is the DRC knob settings. You have all the speakers selected for control via the knob, which means it acts like a master volume control. That's cool if you want it like that. Another common use would be to use it as a subwoofer control only. This way your system volume is controlled by the head unit or steering wheel controls and you can use the knob to trim your sub.

The DRC-205 that I'm using has two knob and push button. Big, outer knob for the subs and the small inner for system volume. I can also push the center button to toggle between tunes.

Thank you!!! You have a great point about the drc knob setting..I would like to use my steering wheel control!! So do i just select bass for control and thats it?Then i can use my steering wheel control...I do need to calm down the front doors they get to loud very quick?

I had to look up your DRC knob. You have two knobs in one, like mine. Click the boxes shown below and you can use the outer knob for subs. You may want to increase the gain on the amp so you have a range with the knob.

If your doors get loud quick is it the tweeters or mid bass that are too loud? If one or the other is, then I would cut the loud one a dB or two in the output table.

Long time no chat..lol! Hope everyone is doing well! There is small project i like to do and just wanted to see what you guy's thought..If you look at the pic of my 2 amps,I was thinking of some led strips to install behind the amps just for show..Can i take some frosted plexi or whatever you think and put that in between the amp and the amp rack and put leds in that?Who would you suggest doing that and the correct wiring?Does not have to stay on when the amps come on but just for a cool display.Wanted your thoughts on material and what kind of leds.Thank you all!!
