What is code for walls up there 2x6 like down here? How thick are you thinking of going?

I still vote for a small apartment in a garage/ barn/ work area type building, then you can sell as is or come back and put a house in if you want.

I think 2x6 will be fine just get good insulation, windows and doors.

Yeah that'd be better, but I'm just at the point of wanting to get something finished. Everything i add will push it back further...then I'll quickly get back to the point of just going with the larger house and garage.

Once the house is up, I can put a garage up in no time. But doing it upfront is just going to delay it another month or two. If i did something quick up front, it'd be 2 car garage. If i wait, it'll likely be a huge pole barn that'll fit 10+ vehicles.

I want to build in some options for more sleeping areas whether it be Murphy beds or something. That way it will be able to sleep more people in a cabin/vacation way. Even though it's only 1bed.

And if you haven't noticed, I'm already itching to get back on the road and explore the world. Sooner the house is done, sooner that really begins. The market will be correcting itself and i want to have a house and no bills before that happens. Could be 5 months or 5 years, but I'd rather be ahead of the curve than going into it with a bigger house that i don't yet own and then have to be a slave to a job.

Meeting with the architect for spec house and mi casa shortly. Maybe chop in a driveway at spec house lot and get some aspens cut and start drying out so i can use them as a divider wall. :p

Which architect are you using? Curious if I know them or have worked with them. Likely not since I dont dabble in residential. Hope the meeting goes well and is productive for you!

And set aside a bunch of nice looking aspens to use for decoration or as a divider wall in the master in mi casa.

Might be a plain box but i like the layout. I sent him a bunch of revisions, so hopefully it'll be ready soon.

Don't think I have ever seen interior Doors numbered like that, I am guessing that's a size or model?

I would work on the Mechanical/ Laundry room layout, seems some wasted space poor layout.

Whats the boxed in area next to the master shower/bath?
If its just void space, I'd say open it up into the closet and put a safe in that corner.

That's just a boxed area if there was going to be a tub. But it'll be a shower so it's going away as well as getting bumped into the living area by a foot.

Standard door sizing for the most part. 28x68 is a 2'8" wide by 6'8" tall

I agree with Steve. At least flip the door swing on the mech/laundry room.

I want to have a little workshop/workbench area, so I'm going to be making that a multi use room...it'll be cozy by the time everything is in there.
