Its a great location, still happy with it. The only thing i might do different is put it on the passenger side, since it does make getting under the dash for wiring needs a little harder with it in your back. And harder to retrieve lost items under the seat.

But it's not annoying enough to unbolt it and switch it to the other side.

I decided to try and lower the light bar so i could put a fairing behind/above it to get air over the solar panel and the tool box.

I found the fairing on the side of the road a few weeks ago when biking, free ninety free. Used some brackets i had from something and got it all bolted up.

I drilled an additional hole in the prinsu rack to change the angle of the bar that the light bar was mounted to. I was drilling from the inside and was kneeling on the hood. Learned quickly that it was not a good idea.

    This poor truck.

After dropping the light about an inch, there's about 1/4" between the light and roof at the closest point.

    And the fairing.

Now we'll see if it helps my miserable mpg.

Tested the ABS kill switch with multi meter with new batteries and got no beep with the switch in either position, so, i guess I'll have to try again without soldering.

I thought i did so well, first time not visually melting something when soldering, and i must've melted the switches innards!

Mpg looks to have increased with the fairing install, I'll have to gas up soon and we'll see.

Wanting to get the air tank relocated inside the driver fender well soon. Unfortunately that means I'll have to get a bunch of stuff to make that happen, I'm currently using the pressure cutoff and backflow that it came with, which is bulky.

Not sure on relocating the compressor since the air valve box thing is under the hood and blocking the space where the compressor could fit. Maybe it's time to go to an arb and save all that room.

    So...

It doesn't look like there is much on here for pictures or ideas for chuck boxes. I really have not seen anything I that caught my eye, but having a rubbermaid or two isnt exactly very organized after bouncing around.

Anyone have any cool pictures or setups? Not sure if I want to build something to hold kitchen items, utensils, plates, pans, spices... or also hold the grill and gas. But I would like it to be a bit more organized.

Something that just came to mind was being able to set it on a table, but also having some pads where I could hang it from the roof rack and have it sit at a good level to compliment the table without taking up table space. I usually prepare a bunch at home, but having an area to cut fresh veggies and prepare stuff would be ideal. Just putting the stove on my table takes up half the space.

    Thinking out loud...
I want it to be able to organize:
    • Pots/pans
    • plates/dishes/cups/silverware
    • magnet for knife storage
    • paper towels
    • spices
    • stove and gas
    • junk drawer for random ... junk (lighter)
    • Oven mitt
    • Soap
    • Sponge

    Features:
    • I'm liking the hanging from the roof rack aspect, get the stove at table height.
    • Drop in area for a rubbermaid container for a sink
    • LED lighting
    • lightweight, maybe experiment with thin wood and some sort of fiberglass/resin to connect the pieces since hardware will just split it.

Just the usual late night... lets see what I can decide to spend money on now!

But I've needed/wanted a chuck box for a while, might have to move that up on the priority list.

i'm definitely building one of those, it'd solve so many storage issues.

between the pelican cases, my big rubbermade, and the chuck box i should finally be good. just need some pelican rifle cases.

After pulling everything out of the bed, I decided it was time to finally get the air tank out of the bed.

Made a mounting plate for it, cut out the storage cubby on the drivers side and plopped it in there. I still need to do the plumbing and reorganize how and where the compressor is in the bed.

Now that I have to figure out the plumbing part... and buying a new pressure switch/check valve while figuring out where to put the new relay. I'm thinking about running a main power wire to the bed and adding another fuse box back there. If I have the relay up front, and pressure switch in back, I'd have to run an additional wire between them.

    Always something!

@3378jakesr5 do you have a blue sea box and some thick wire...6 gauge maybe?
