Wowza @5465 you didn't refute a single thing I said, even though I reiterated it at the bottom of my post. If you make a profit, its income, you get taxed. Simple as that. I guess we can agree there.

Saying I've never built something and sold it, come on bud you have no idea so I'll just chalk it up to insecurity. What is a B feast

However... potentially indirectly commiting manslaughter in the worst case, fraud at best, can we agree that's worse than not paying a few bucks in tax "selling things online" as you suggested? Or are all offenses equal in your eyes?

He did the right thing, others casually suggested insurance fraud or fraudulent sale, that's where this started. I hope OPs situation is ironed out quickly and at minimal cost and hassle.

If you have Comprehensive insurance, I dont see why you wont be covered. I had a similar incident in 2014 , no issues. Told them exactly where and when it happened. Coverage is coverage for accidents and bonehead moves.

    Sorry I haven't updated in a while.

Insurance is repairing my truck (not totaling it). Feel a bit conflicted about that especially since they didn't authorize the 4 hours the dealership wanted to do in depth diagnosis (but maybe that was dealership trying to pad their bill - I don't know) and considering how many people said it'd probably be totaled.

The writeup I got from insurance has the following work:
Replace Ctr Airbag Sensor (I think this is actually the airbag control unit in front of the center console)
    Replace Starter
    Replace Wire Harness #1
    Replace Wire Harness #2
    Replace cab floor mat
Replace main wire harness (this itself is $2500 in parts?! and over 10 hours of labor)

    $4452.00 in labor
    $3996.02 in parts

    Nothing yet

To be fair, thw people on this site that said it will be totaled, had ZERO time in the garage with your truck after you took it for a swim. Dont fret, they will fix it for you, just drive on and check depths next time.

Even the insurance company wont know for sure if the truck is a total loss,UNTIL the repairs start and the damage costs go up possibly, happens all the time, thats why so many guys here said maybe totalled.

You drove it in the drink intentionally and they're covering you. I'd relax and call that a win.

They should cover diag if the shop is doing repairs. If they are replacing he SRS diag unit under the center console they should replace the seat belts also (but that is not alway done). Replacing the carpet is good. Once they replace the harnesses you will find out if your computers have issues. If they can’t talk to each other there is a problem. They should clean and lube seat tracks,

If the engine didn’t hydro lock you should be ok there. If you have electrical issues down the road you call the insurance company and put it under this claim.

    OP,

Thank you for taking the time to post back how your situation was resolved -- or is getting resolved. One of the great things about this forum is that we can all learn from each other. We all make mistakes and sometimes things don't work out as we planned. Good lesson learned for all of us ... be more careful when it comes to driving the truck through water!

Depending on your deductible ($500? $1,000?) you will be covered and hopefully your truck will be back to normal.

Best of luck to you ... definitely post back how the repair goes ... and don't worry about it ... you were using your truck for fun and adventure, got stuck in some water that was higher than you thought, and are now getting it repaired. No shame in that ... if it happens again, though, maybe. :)

Wait. What? Are you suggesting that all the pavement princesses running around are somehow subsidizing the insurance claims made by drivers that think the Tacoma can float? ;-)

An official BLM road out here in the desert goes through the Mojave River - lots of deep water… until the railroad filled it in with gravel, boy did they get in trouble for that one!

I would add the transfer case actuator to that, they flood and a little while later no more 4wd because the interior parts get corroded - WEILEITE 4WD Transfer Case Shift Motor Actuator Assy Compatible With 2012-2017 Toyota Tacoma:
