    I'm not 100% sure.

But I think selling a vehicle with known problems that are undisclosed to the buyer can have serious backlash.

Depends on the state, in Colorado for example it's quite common.

Depends. Utah has quite a few that seasonally flood. But yeah, don't commit crimes

It is usually pretty easy to tell when a truck has done some serious off-roading / mudding (kind of hard to remove all evidence of mud and gunk underneath). If OP can get all these electrical gremlins legitimately cleared up, he could certainly sell this vehicle to Carvana or the like with a clear conscious. Nothing has changed here; it is "buyer beware" when buying a used 4WD vehicle!

The clean up is a lot of work. Stay the course and constantly do a lot of cleaning. Over time, you might be able to bring it back to normal. Good luck.

or trade it in at a dealer. Take the low ball offer on the spot. They will think they got one over on you when it is actually the opposite.

I’d you do try to dry it out yourself I knew two guys that would buy wrecked BMWs and fix them up for their own use because they couldn’t afford them new.

one of them bought a flood vehicle and he put it in a heated paint booth for a few days to dry it out. As far as I know it worked fine after that.

he said the trick was to cross your fingers nobody tried to turn anything on when it was wet because that’s when things get fried so might be too late but could be worth a shot.

We have a road by me that flash floods with every thunderstorm, so it's possible.

no. Totalled. Until you own a flood damaged vehicle you don't understand the massive problems you will have.

Truck is toast. I am an insurance broker and father in-law owns a body shop. I've seen vehicles written off for much less that this. I would not want to own the truck after that.

If you want to go through insurance thats totally fine. But dont psych yourself out over it too much. With some work I think you can get many many more years out of the truck.

Not sure if I've captured all of the quotes that are all basically saying the same thing...

Here's some clarification. Yes, roads flood here in WA too... but based on the title, I didn't interpret this as a "flooded road", I interpreted it as a FS road that crosses what essentially looks like a small river or pond. The OP has already clarified that it's flooded due to seasonal rains... I wouldn't call that a "creek", I'd call it a "washed out road", but so be it.

Good luck OP. I'm with everyone else, that truck is never going to be the same. If you can get out from under it, that's probably going to be the best course of action.

A week ago I was on a Forest Service Road in the Inyo National Forest (Wyman Creek Rd.) which not only crosses a Creek many times, but at one point requires driving down the creek for 500’ or so. This was not after any sort of rainfall or a local flooding situation.

Maybe classifications vary by state or region.

OP, sorry this happened to you. I had something similar happen to me on my previous 4x4. I dried it out for the better part of a week and all the error lights went away and I was able to drive/wheel it for another couple of years until I sold it for other reasons.
