Must be. Driving through streams and creeks here is fairly uncommon and often ticketable. Most likely due to most streams being salmon bearing and fish habitats. I guess the moral of the story is know your local laws.

Agreed. It’s always a good idea to know local rules and use live-GPS tracking to insure you remain on a legal route.

    Yeah.
Yeah, hopefully they do total it and whoever picks it up knows what it has been through. Otherwise we will see a guy on here a year from now chasing electrical problems.

Not sure if this one is included. Luckily it was short (although running a bit faster than I was comfortable with), and I had already seen an LC go through. I'm not quite as heavy as an LC, though. Nothing got inside, but driver's seat has a nipple now.

OP, very sorry that happened to you. I offer no snarky comments because I know how bummed you must be.

If it were me, I would call the insurance company and get their initial take. See what their position is and what they recommend that you do.

If it is not too much trouble, please post back how you resolve your situation. I am curious to find out what happens ... and there may be much we can all learn from your experience.

I really hope it works out !

Thank you for sharing op please let us know how the truck/ situation turns out for you. Don't rush what you need to do think about it. As some have posted the most critical computers are not down low and I have seen worse flooded 3rd gens come out just fine. Ultimately it is up to you. Whether to sell, keep , trade etc. I've flooded out my lowered vehicles in the past in unavoidable situations and in the end the car was fine and it was a car not a truck. These were fairly modern cars as well. Don't beat yourself up over it the Tacoma is still worth good money as is. Seen totaled ones sell for 19,000 to 25,000... crazy.

When I did mine I was throwing lots of engine codes. I hydro locked it and spent a couple days of drain water, Crain, oil, repeat, etc. it would run, but then it would only start and kept dying due to the anti theft device. Insurance called it comprehensive as there was a road there and water came up. Totaled it and happily split ways with it. Didn’t even want to fix it and sell the lemon knowing it would be a gremlin machine for a year or more.

I did the exact same thing almost four months ago. I never turned off my truck, and the water never went over the engine. I did have 6-8" of water in the cab though. I had to replace the starter (sounds like you have similar issues) and alternator. I completely stripped the interior, cleaned it, dried it, and reinstalled it. Then I took it to the dealership for a once over, so they could check all the error codes. Those codes, the starter, and alternator were the only issues I experienced from the water. It was a real pain to clean it out, but everything works like a charm at this point. I did some more damage to my truck trying to get it out, but that's another story lol. Because of the physical damage we did to the truck while pulling it out and a local shop telling me my computer was fried (it wasn't, it never even got wet), I called State Farm, and they paid everything without question.

Up a creek without a paddle, that truck is F !

I’m a bit amazed people do this stuff without the proper vehicle and somehow think it’s gonna be ok. Sorry for your loss, going to be an expensive lesson.

    Good luck

Appears to be a regional thing. The only info I can find on those road classes are for VT & NH. No such thing as Class I/II/III/IV roads here in NC. Seems to be quite a nice resource you guys have up there in New England.

    Here's how to interpret that.
A- read it 5 times faster than your normal speed.
B - at the beginning of the post, pretend it started with a "Yeah man." At every line break insert a "dang ol' " or "tell you what." Every punctuation mark is pronounced "man" or if it's an exclamation mark, "yo!"

    C- use this voice:

I have to say, regardless of the (possibly fixable) electrical issues, you are very lucky you didn't fuck your engine by hydrolocking it. So take that with a grain of salt

Sit one of those dehumidifiers people have in their basements on the back seat and run the cord through the back window. Run that for a couple days.

The way dealers buy trade in trucks, I highly doubt you would have anything to worry about.
