Last week I was hit by a driver who ran a red light while I was taking my 2 year old daughter to preschool. I saw the driver running the light just before impact and I knew she would hit my truck right where my daughter was sitting. I hit the gas hoping the other driver would miss the rear passenger door but there wasn’t any time. She was probably going 30-40 mph. After the crash I turned around and besides being scared my daughter didn’t have a scratch on her.

Insurance informed me the Tacoma’s not going to make it. She did her job admirably keeping me and my family safe, may she rest in peace.

Also props to the Evenflo Symphony DLX carseat. 20160111_092821.jpg 20160111_111328.jpg

Wow, that's my biggest concern now that we have a 5-month old and a DCLB. He sits in the same spot every morning on the way to day care.

    Glad everyone is safe.

So how did you refrain from wrapping your hands around the neck of the woman that ran the light?

First, glad that you and your daughter are safe. Second, this makes me feel even better about buying a Tacoma because I do have a kid on the way (wife is 18 weeks). Third, I laughed but agree with Connor.
I was driving Sunday afternoon and a lady ran a stop sign right in front of me. I was pissed because my pregnant wife was with me, but I stayed calm. I saw the idiot not slow down ahead of time, so I slowed down preparing to miss her vehicle. But, I did tell me wife if that lady did that and our kid was in the back, she would have gotten an ear full. The rest of the day we joked about getting "baby on board" signs for our vehicles.

Must have bent the frame, or other major structural damage to declare her a total loss. Glad you and yours are safe and all well, though.

Glad you guys are doing well. I see so many people walking away from Tacoma's after wrecks, it is pretty reassuring.

    Certainly glad all are ok...........

Details on why a '13 is totaled with what is in the pics? That doesn't look that bad, and certainly not like one would expect from a 30mph strike.

Is it the actual cab damage (not the bed or door) that they are writing it off for? Wouldn't seem to be into the frame.

First off, glad to hear you and your daughter are OK. Thats all that matters.
Secondly, similar story, i gave my 04 trd off road to my cousin out here in vt and an icy road + bad tires caused him to slide off the millington access road. He walked away without a scratch. I think the tacoma saved his butt big time.

Do we meet up with our deceased vehicles in Heaven? I hope so. I've killed two and miss them dearly. I figure a Tacoma will climb through the clouds with ease.

Yikes. Good to hear that everyone is ok. Truck doesn't "look" too bad. Hell, sell it in Michigan, they wouldn't flinch driving that. :D The other day I went to Detroit and was passed by a car with an entire front end made of duct tape....and no trunk at all.... yours, in comparision, will buff right out. :D
    On to a new Taco??
