Well, you'd better hope the feds create some sort of framework for this rollout... otherwise the commercial vendors are gonna make you think $5.00 gas would be cheap in comparison to what they will be and are charging now. Most people can't do the math to understand that.

I am short of hope when it comes to government programs, based on history. Just incentivize Tesla etc. to build out more chargers. Yeah, I know, that cuts out the graft and campaign contributions. It seems confused to mandate this EV future when fusion power is not ready and building fission nukes is not popular, along with the under capacity grid issues. China has a lot of coal though and were building one power plant a week, they are ready.

To be fair...they don't really make electric jets yet.

Also, I think too many people get hung up on EV charging. It's not that complicated. You plug your phone in at home when you go to bed, do the same with your vehicle and you wake up to a full tank every single morning. For the majority of people, this will satisfy 99% of their driving needs and they will almost never need to hit a public charger. DC fast chargers are mainly for road trips and they will certainly become more prevalent. With nearly every manufacturer adopting NACS (the Tesla plug) they will soon be able to use Tesla super chargers which drastically expands charging options as Tesla already has a HUGE charging network.

I'm not anti-ev at all, I just would like it to be thought out and reasonable,, not a 'you do it this way or else'. I'm old but not against change whatsoever, as long as changing is for the good, not because a certain group says so.

That's why freedom of choice is essential is a civil society. But I have been personally attacked here because of my views and opinions and facts about EVs. Seems the other guy is scared of them. Progress, even slow progress, is a threat to some.

I'm good with anyone's opinion as long as it's not 'I'm right, you're an idiot'.
I'm about as conservative as a person can get, but I still try to respect other's opinions even if they are wrong.

I'm a progressive and feel the same. BUt I was getting exactly that from the keyboard terrorists here but that happens to everyone. Childish name calling. I just present the facts and watch them squirm when it disproves their made up theories. I'm man enough to admit I'm wrong and have done so many times on here and in my professional and personal life. Admitting you're wrong doesn't make you less of a man. Some can't stand being wrong and think a lie is a virtue and use ignorance as their shield.

I think most facts these days aren't always facts (on both sides of the fence), I feel as though we're all being told what we want to hear. Keeps things interesting, doesn't it?

Agreed. I post articles on here and if it's debunked I'll admit it. The press these days resorts to how fast they can get their monetized clicks not the factual information. That's reverse progression for sure.

One thing that is certain is change. Though all we will be doing is go from exploiting petroleum to exploiting minerals even more so.

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss…

Very true. But at least we'll all breathe better while the oligarchs charge their super yachts.

    Lol! Indeed we will!

Easier to control pollution from thousands of power plants (Google says there are 62,500 currently world wide), rather than millions upon millions of vehicles running around.

One of my favorite quotes. Can’t remember where I heard it, or if I have it fully correct.

“In my 20s I became a progressive to save the world.

In my 30s I became a conservative to save on my taxes.

In my 40s I became ahhhhhh….hey I’m hungry, are you? Let’s go get something to eat!”

As soon as fusion power and solid state batteries hit, or other superior technologies, the market will change very quickly if government gets out of the way. Until then, it's mostly pushing rope uphill with rubbish batteries and "fossil fuel" power plants. As you say, follow the money. New fortunes being made. Different environmental impacts.

You would think the anti-ev crowd would be all for getting the US off foreign energy. Personally I am not anti-ev, just don’t think it is going to be very good for the environment as it is being peddled. Go from pumping it out of the ground to scraping even more resources off the surface. The mining industry certainly is poised and ready to go. Air might get a little cleaner, but ecosystems will continue to suffer. https://timeline.google.com/maps/ti...byfAwmB6ffcXvnrtmkBfYKGTW-GyZtZpstmeacQ34g&pb

Whether one believes in evolution or a higher power, we humans certainly haven’t been very good to our one and only home. We don’t treat it or each other very well, just look at us knuckleheads on here arguing over nonsense. :)
