I would be curious to know if any 3rd gen owners have opened there door panels up, lifted the carpet or headliner and seen what makes the third gen a quieter ride then the second gen. Because I just opened up my second gen to add 3M sound deadening pads to the inner door and there was zero sound deadening material in all 4 doors.

I'll admit it's quieter than I thought it would be. Only vehicle that was quieter was my 2016 F150 with the 2.7 Ecoboost.

Interesting....I thought my truck was quiet until I was parked next to someone the other day with the truck running. As we were talking, he says to me, "is that a diesel?"

it totally makes a sound on shutoff. .. it is just something I never heard before in any other truck/car. Sounds like a little wirl or maybe a valve close when I shut it off. I do have the 4 cyl so dont know if it is specific to that motor.

My Tacoma is super quiet on good roads, the new cheaper road topping they use to patch in sections can be problematic; and that is with expensive cars as well.

Two free hearing test a year. Veterans and Company insurance. Don't need them yet. I do have to have reading glasses. That might explain the mispelled words( or maybe not) Misspelled ? who cares.

What is the buzzing when the start button is pushed? I have other cars with push start buttons that don't do that. Curious

My 2018 only has 6500 miles on it, but very impressed with how quiet it is for a truck. Indiana roads are definitely don’t classify as nice.

Tennessee roads are pretty nice. We don't have state income tax but we do have an expensive sales tax 10% (maybe even higher if large cities add another 1/2%. The theory is the 9 million Smoky Mountain park tourist help pay the tax.

I concur OP, my taco is very quiet as well. A friend and I took a long ride in the hills yesterday. I noticed how quiet it was while I was waiting for him at the 7-11, rolled the window down to make sure it was still running. After miles up the road he commented how quiet the ride was and said the ride seemed much smoother & more comfortable than my 2nd gen. I still kinda miss bouncing over everything but yeah, I have to agree, the ride is a lot smoother.

Pretty much zilch in the doors of the 2018. I have a creak / rattle from my drivers side rear access door interior panel that happens when its cold but it annoys the CRAP out of me. Sound goes right in my left ear.

Mine was pretty quite when new. At 8k miles all that changed.
When my wife and were driving home from the dealer both of us were amazed.

I am still having a hard time deciding if this is a haha funny thread or not. My 6 month old 18 is nowhere near quiet. Possibly my #1 complaint about the truck. I ordered a big load of sound deadening mats to try and line the truck when I swap the speakers. As said before, any crosswind and forget about it.

The stock tune does have kind of a diesel clatter to it; a lot of direct injection cars have it these days, though the clattering is much reduced with OVtune 1.05.

My Tacoma is the quietest vehicle I've owned (four previous cars) by far. On my first test drive, it was almost too quiet, like being in a tomb.
