Try pushing the recycled air button (it works with the a.c. off)
I have an sr5 and this stops air flowing in when my a.c. is not on

There is a thread on here with when on face only, it still blows through defrost. Mine dose this and it annoying cause the cold air fogs the windshield and windows when it's humid. Gotta run the wipers. PIA
