Same thing happened to me this morning. Key in and click, click, click. Checked the voltage and it was at 12.2. AAA came and jumped it. Taking it to the dealership after work. Hope it's just a faulty battery. 2017 SRS 4x4. No interior light on nothing out of the ordinary. Had it for a month 1/2 with 2,600 miles. Frustrating!!!!!

I think this is true in most cases. Probably more so with modern vehicles, but not to ALL vehicles. I have had an old Nissan that had no battery. I just push started it and tried to park facing down hill. There were no problems with the voltage regular from this. Had a few motorcycles without batteries as well.

Old generator equipped vehicles and motorcycles with magneto flywheel generators, sure. Modern alternator equipped vehicles with solidstate voltage regulators, nope.

    Skamn Dippy!

So wait, you're new to the concept of sarcasm and jokes?

On a more serious note, they did put in a 84M Toyota battery.

Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse. Just add a dash of swag.

Seriously, batteries can be a crap shoot. I've had some last near 8 years and some last a year. This thread was a bit of a joke.

Drove it 20+ minutes to work after it was jumped. Went to start it up during my lunch break and it barely turned over. Can the battery drain that fast? I hope I can make it home later and then to the dealership. They want me to pay for a rental!!! WTF? Really?

If the battery is bad it will constantly drop about .1v every second. So yes a bad battery can die that fast.

I think the OP is out of luck.

"In addition, a Louisiana Lemon Law automobile is one which does not conform to the express warranty and cannot be repaired after a reasonable number of attempts -- at least four repair visits to correct the same malfunction during the warranty period or within one year of delivery of the vehicle; or if the vehicle has been out of service for repair for a combined total of at least 90 days during the same period. If the defect still exists, the manufacturer shall replace the lemon with a new vehicle or give a full refund."

    Once is not enuf.

Lot of stuff posted in this thread...so he may pass over this important tidbit of information you provided.

I'd PM directly and let him know......

Can someone start a "howling battery thread"? I feel that the implications of the OPs problem have not been thoroughly vetted. I think we need a dedicated thread to discuss how Toyota is going to screw us over these known battery issues, how our resale values are going to drop etc. Then the 2nd and 1st gen owners can chime in.

See, I had a 1979 Toyota pickup. I put 281K miles on the original battery and it lasted 13 years. I used it to revive a man who's heart had stopped and then put it back in the truck and drove home.

Also, one day I killed a rabid black bear with it by tying it in a sling made from a fat womans size 25 thong and then bludgeoning the bear with it. I put it back in and guess what? Fired right up.

When the anchor for our house boat rusted out and fell off we used to - you guessed it - use the old battery. At the end of the day, we'd dock the boat and it would fire back up. Hell, I never turned the lights off on that truck. I went to Hawaii and let the lights on for two weeks and yep - fired right back up.

My Ram 2500 has TWO batteries! Stupid Toyota only putting one battery in our trucks....always sticking it to us.

Try that with a stupid turd gen battery.....

Don't make em like they used to. My original Taco battery was a Panasonic, and it lasted 9 years.
