That's the last gen Hilux. The current generation is worse.

The Hilux is more capable offroad, and more comfortable than the Tacoma while being more capable. If Toyota would compare the Hilux with the Tacoma in a head to head comparison. The Hilux would win every test.

The Australians I know say these trucks ride like crap, quite honestly.

What tests would the hilux win? What makes it more capable off-road other than terrible ground clearance?

You are right, they’ve dropped the fascia even lower on the refresh.

I’ve had a couple beers, so I’m gonna shit on this stupid hilux a little more as I enjoy the evening sunshine.

Whatever those grab-handles are above the wheels, I’m glad I don’t have them on my Tacoma. They look dumb. Practically speaking, I guess if you take all the wheels off, you could call a couple mates over to lift the truck up onto blocks using them grab handles.

The good news is you are gonna get a free exhaust delete the first day on the trails with you Hilux “invincible X” trim! So dumb.

I’ve been through hundreds of cross ditches and wash outs in my Tacoma and still have the stock exhaust location. My rear bumper got destroyed, because that’s where you hit, but the exhaust has been fine tucked in behind the wheel.

This truck has more grilles than a TRD Pro Tundra has fake hood skoops. I’d probably paint them all different colours. That would be sweet.

Yeah, but does it have the carbon camo of the new Tundra?

    America!

    Or Canada! In your honor.

I’m from Canada. Camouflage of any kind is banned up here. Our government likes to be able to see exactly where you are and what you are doing. The tundra will be stopped at the border until plasti-dipped.

    You missed my edit...

You might actually be American from the sounds of it though.

I gotta talk to my parents. Something not right with my thinking that’s for sure. I think they snuck me across the border.

There needs to be a comparison test. I can't say what Hilux can do better than the Tacoma. The Hilux would win. The cabin has more room and a better seating position.

There are up sides and down sides to each. I don't remember specifics, but I remember thinking some parts of the Hilux were cool but much prefer my Tacoma overall.

Im not convinced I’d like it better. It certainly looks less “truckish”, but as you say, without a proper comparison it’s hard to judge.

Someone here wrote that in Mexico, where Hilix and Tacoma are both offered, the Tacoma is the top seller. Haven’t fact checked that, but that’s what was said.

    The bolded has me confused.

So you're saying you don't know what the Hilux can or does better than a Tacoma, but it would win.

    Am I drunk, or???

After typing my latest reply I went out to take out the garbage (trash) and my truck was sitting there. Goddam……after an hour looking at that fugly Hilux I was bowled over by the rugged no-nonsense style of the Tacoma. Bravo Mike Sweers or whomever.

here is my truck and my garbage can.

IMHO, just that forward sloping wedge shape and wall of plastic up in front of the tires is enough to make me want to gag. Just from the looks of it, I can’t see how that thing is anything other than a pavement princess but admittedly I don't know squat about it other than what I’ve seen on these forums…
