We all spend about $100-200k in gas per lifetime, so yes mpg is important to me. I just think the Tacoma would be better if it were smaller and wasn't fighting the grille wars.

OP, while I cannot disagree with your assessment - and I think the 1st gen is vastly superior - I have to wonder why you bought your truck. Most of the issues you raise are visual in nature, take one look at the truck and things like size, front end, grille, etc., are all readily visible. Kind of pointless to complain about shit you could plainly see before you even get in the truck.

Really, have you seen some of those japano-rice boxes? There is defintely a possibility a japanese guy, probably a mid twenties dude with spiked up blonde hair, designed the fake hood scoop. just saying. Oh, and I'm asian. I can say that.

i have to SMH and laugh when i read threads like this. half the complaints by the op are on the style and looks, did you buy it blindfolded? if you dont like the styling why did you purchase the veh? The rest of the complaints are about the ride.. again did you not test drive it? i can see buying a veh that becomes a lemon and is always in the shop that would piss me off. But to buy a truck then complain about its styling and its ride is absurd. next time you buy a truck take it for a test drive and look at it . maybe more then once. oh and i owned a 99' a 2008, 2015 and now my 2017. the truck grew in size with the second generation. the 3rd gen is a much more solid truck imo.

I'm not whining or complaining, I'm providing input for the 4th generation Tacoma. I like the Tacoma, I wouldn't have bought it otherwise.

Do you need to know, or care?
I would agree with this, personally I like my truck and think it's better than my 2nd Gen, but others may disagree and have a right to post their feelings and opinions.

You even mentioned in your Original Post that you are an Avid Tacoma Fan, I simply read it as your Opinion of the new Truck, not sure why guys were saying you were whining or complaining.

I will not buy another Tacoma but with people paying MSRP when these trucks came out Corp Toyota probably thinks all is good. Not a fan of the power train but also looking at full size.

Who the hell runs this engine at 4500rpm except for possibly getting on the highway when floor boarding. And you don't need to floor board when getting up to speed anyways. I've also never reached 4500 when in CC going up a hill and downshifting. In town, I typically driving the truck the way it's supposed to and average around 2000-2200 rpm just fine. Sounds like you drive your truck pedal to the metal most the time as indicated you drive with S mode. I agree the torque needs to be around 300rpm lower in the power band but I've found a way to drive the truck to create plenty of power and still get decent mpg granted not as good as advertised. Its a truck and won't perform like a sports car and doesn't fall on its face.

Wind noise in my TRD OR DCLB, not much at all. I still hear some road noise and wind but it's like driving a Caddy. I've heard worse in higher end luxury cars. I did get the cross wind kazoo noise once but the dealer fixed it and never heard it again.

Entune, doesn't suck all that bad, could use a few improvements. Can it be improved with Apply Play etc, yes. My wife's S6 and my Samsung S5 hook up just fine. Need more, use the cable. Voice recognition could use some help. Id like to see phone mirroring. Who gives in the long run?

2002 Tundra. What a POS truck that was. Of course, this truck tried to play with the 1/2t variety was its biggest downfall. I LMAO watching guys with this Tundra vintage actually trying to do any work with it. But I'm sure it was fine getting A to B otherwise.

I have to floor mine to get it going if it isn't in ECT mode. If you ever need to pass someone or get a car length ahead to change lanes quickly for some reason, the delayed kick down to get into the power band is EXTREMELY frustrating.

That's a different situation that was described as this engine living at 4500rpm a lot of the time.

Btw, people need to learn how to drive this engine/tranny combo. I never use ECT unless I have a load behind me.
