If this POS Tacoma turns out to be half the truck my 2002 Tundra was I'll be overly happy. That Tundra carried more cement blocks, often 2 cubes at a time, than you can imagine. After hurricane Charley I built a house with that truck and delivered neswspapers for 15 years, bed loaded, suspension often down on the stops. The original clutch an shocks, I replaced the radiator and put brushes in the alternator that's it for 177,000 miles. and brake pads, but no rotors. AC was ice cold right up to the day i sold it. Never had service. It would run the speedo over the 120 mark too. I don't know who you are or what you know about the 2002 Tundra but you don't know the one I had. And, just to be clear, the trans in the new one SUCKS

@WolfWengler I'm glad that truck fit your needs. I couldn't get by with anything lighter than a 3/4t 4x4 to get my work done. Needs are needs. Sorry, you and others feel the 3rd gen sucks so bad. If I was you I'd get sell it and stop bitching about it. And that goes for all the other folks bitching about the 3rd gen. Sell it or shut up about it already.

This is a forum for people to share opinions. Not every opinion will align with yours. You need to consider the ignore feature if someone's opinions really irritate you that much.

Agreed, but enough about it already. Can't we just create a special place on tacomaworld for all the 3rd gen haters where they can do what they do and not bring everyone else down with their unhappiness because of *insert whatever reason*?

Totally agree with you. Problem is that the 3rd gen forum has lots of people bitching about their trucks and they won't do anything about it. If you hate the truck so bad get rid of it. All the negativity here takes away from the rest of us who enjoy the truck. Trust me, I'm not the only one who feels this way.

Toyota rolled out a Turd Gen. It isn't the consumers fault. Now you take a big financial loss and ditch the truck or come here to commiserate. Commiserate is the cheaper option. Therapeutic for some perhaps too.

I don't want to get in the way of someones mental health, seriously though.
I'll continue trying to avoid these threads but it's hard, kind of like watching an accident.
I do find it absurd that some 3rd gen owners say the truck is crap as if it's a fact.
I didn't take that class in school and I love mine.
Sorry you guys hate your truck, I think others are like me and like it. Mind you, I don't have an automatic.

I don't have a cleaver meme so just pretend I attached one below.

    My answer.
1)I think the truck is the perfect size. I never bothered looking at a 2nd get because I didn't realize they'd made em a bit bigger. I don't fit in the first gens, or the older SR5s, and Id really like to have had about a 79.
2)Don't know what to tell you on this one. It is a P/U. Don't like the european hilux look.
3)I think the hood and grille look good. The 2nd gen was ugly. I enjoy the the view from the seat. Very enjoyable experience.
4)The high belt line is very nice. I always hated the goofy fish bowl that came in with the development of the Ford Taurus. 90s cars sucked.
    5)get a cat?
6)I will agree about the radiator and drum brakes. Don't know what you want a washer fluid container to be made out of.
7)Your just used to the ones that were in the first gens. The cup holder locations is very nice. Plus theres a LOT of them.
8)O.K. You have a point with this one. I get the same mileage with this truck that I got with my 2010 Dodge QC 4x4 1/2 ton with a 390 hp Hemi. And that thing ran like a raped ape.
9)Pffft. Its fancier than a dial radio. It works fine.
10)I didn't buy this to haul gravel. Thats what dump trucks are for.
11)You sure are preoccupied with mudflaps. You seriously didn't buy the 2nd gen because the mudflaps fall off? You realize you can buy different mudflaps? This is the first truck Ive ever owned with mudflaps. The mudflaps are not an issue for me, in fact, I could care less if they are there or not. I guess if I break one Ill replace it. Maybe Ill just take the other 3 off. I just haven't put as much thought into mudflaps as you obviously have.

Smitty so you have ever problem on your truck that everybody brings up. Boy did you get a lemon. I wonder sometimes if the turd part you are referring to is the person setting in the seat.

    Me too.
I do honestly feel bad for those that genuinely hate their trucks. I say this because I genuinely disliked my first gen. I bought it beat to crap, then I had put so much work into resurrecting it and it still had problems that drove me bonkers. It hated getting in it every day.
I don't wish anyone to feel that way about their tacoma, regardless of the generation.

I've posted those exact remarks and feel for those here having issues. However, I think some on this site are not Tacoma owners at all, especially when other manufacturers are thrown in as superior. They all have there issues.

I came to this site as a 30 year driver but first time Tacoma owner. Hoping to gain knowledge of the truck, but I think I'm going to just go back to my Haynes manual.

You're free to do that. I would not have acquired all the knowledge I have about both my first or thrid gen tacoma's without tacomaworld.
Hence I stay and accept the good with the bad.

Did the tranny TSBs provide *any* relief? That use to frustrate the hell out of me, but its not been an issue (save a few random occasions) since the first TSB. I haven't had the revision. I'm not sure if I want to risk it reverting back to shit.

Not really. Must be why they're working on REV 2 now. Toyota can't figure it out.
