It fixed my cruise control issue. I'm going to wait on Rev 1 if I get it at all.

Smart man. I'm amazed at all people that hate the truck on the test drive and buy it anyway or even consider buying it.

Sometimes it takes more than one ride to figure out you really don't like it.

Maybe. But I suspect it's more of an issue with due diligence. In both cases.

It's also a function of issues that aren't immediately apparent or that develop/present themselves over the first few thousand miles. I chalked up some of the initial clunks to a "break in period". Its also easy to say "you should have listened harder for X or Y" or "how didn't you notice Z?"...its easy to say all of that after-the-fact or after having read about it on these forums. When you are test driving a vehicle you have about a dozen things you are trying to take in all at once.

So sure, maybe people should have caught some of these issues on a test drive, but the real question is: Why didn't Toyota catch them before releasing the vehicle? And why haven't they fixed them yet?

    Quoted for truth.

I've stated many times, the issue does not seem to be problems with the truck so much as Toyota ignoring them and calling them "normal".

Even the most ardent complainer would likely be much more forgiving if they felt that their problems were either being addressed, or confident that they were going to be addressed and not just ignored.

My .02 is really on the size comment yes the Tacoma has gotten bigger but it is still dwarfed by newer full size trucks. My dad is service manager at the local Toyota dealer and has not experienced anybody complaining yet about the third gen. Then again I live in a big Union town and you can count on 1 hand how many Tacomas are driving around. These bugs will get worked out, Toyota hasn't been perfect in the past- for example run away cars and frame rust but they eventually own up to it and fix the problems they have revamped and redone several Toyota vehicles recently and may be struggling to keep up.

Sometimes you can tell in the first few sentences that you were never going to make someone happy.

Toyota or any other manufacturer cannot build a truck to suit everyone, it's physically and scientifically impossible. All the more reason for a test drive or several of them.

I'm with you. I'm referring more to the members on here that start a thread and first post with "I just got home from the dealer with my new truck and this transmission sucks". Or, I just did a test drive and I can't stand the shifting or the lack of low end torque. So should I get this or the F150?:rofl::rofl:

And if you read a comment on a forum and think "my truck does this also". People who own a Tacoma and do not read online forums might be oblivious to all this. I remember reading a report about people going to a doctor after seeing a commercial for some drug that treats xyz, saying that they needed that drug. Think that if that person did not see the ad, that visit to the doctor probably would not happen. Perception is reality.

Maybe I'm just a careful buyer (1st "new" truck in over 40 years of driving) but after shopping around... I like the size, I like the look, I like the ride, I like the mpg (around 23 average) I like the way it handles in the snow and ice and I like my 4 banger and 5 speed. I looked and nothing on the market came close (except the snow ice thing, that you don't know till you spend some time in it). You could take any one of the above items away except the third peddle and I still would have bought this truck. Had they offered a low RPM torqy 6 with a 5 spd standard I'd live in the thing. Sorry to all the folks that bought a truck they don't like, really don't know how that happens except getting a lemon. My advice... squeeze the bread before you buy it.

Just got back from a 5 hour trail run. MAN, what a great truck. Would I change a couple things if it was my decision? Well YA!! But, I would have changed some things on every truck Ive ever had if it was up to me. Every car too. NOTHING in life is perfect, BUT, this truck comes pretty dang close. Good job Toyota.

Truck does well off road at low speed. Truck sucks in day to day driving. Driveline and powertrain is poor. Quality control has been suspect.
