All of these complaints and yet, you bought the vehicle anyway.

My research on the Ranger indicates it will be a large truck like the Tacoma and Colorado. If that is the case then there is no reason to switch as Tacoma should have better long term quality. The only wild card is the Jeep Wrangler due in 2019 but I assume it will also be boat too. In my OP, my primary issue was the large size but apparently market (you folks) do not want a small truck like the days of old.

Me? I put a deposit down on the third gen in Oct of 2015 so there wasn't nearly as much consumer feedback on them yet

With Jeeps history of quality problems I do not think it will be a serious threat to the Tacoma. Now the Gm, Ford, & Jeep combined might take away some sales.

The trans is supposed to up-shift on it's own if you don't shift. Says nothing about when you upshift and the trans not only doesn't shift but then runs to the rev limiter and the truck falls on its face. Supposed to shift when you push the lever or when it's best, not ever to NOT SHIFT. Just another little undocumented 'quirk'.

New full size P/Us have gotten way to big. Ive always owned full size P/Us so the new Tacoma, which is now about the size a full-size was up until the mid 2000s, is now the perfect size P/U. I never owned one of those small little P/Us. Never really saw a purpose for them. City kid "trucks". So I never owned one. Never wanted too. I like this new one. It would be cool if they would make a teeny tiny one for all you gus that want one though. But it would still be bigger than the old ones. Govt safety and fuel mileage mandates make it so.
Also, have any of you guys ever owned an old 80s F150 4x4 with a 302 and 3:33 gears? What about a 70s or 80s inline six? Don't complain about the 260 HP you've got in the Tacoma unless you have. I have.

How about a 1983 F150 with a 351 and 2 barrel venturi that put out a whopping 150 hp? Also a 1987 "HO" 351 with 4 barrel double pumper Holley, Eldebrook intact and 215 HP. That truck did have some torque. I opened it up on a stretch of IH and over 10 miles I could see the gas gauge move. Best thing about it that C6 tranny was bulletproof.

Perfect size depends on needs and uses. Overall the full sized pick ups today are getting outstanding fuel economy and have power for days compared to the mid sized market.

Truly gets old when you come here for info and every single thread is spammed with the same few individuals complaining about their truck. So much wasted time.

In "unrelated" does anyone know where I can get a gif for a whiney millennial snowflake in a safe place?

I have had a 1st, 2nd and 3rd gen. Loved them all, and all my vehicles I have owned have had their quirks.

I have to say - if it's an issue then just ignore the threads and the "same few individuals".

Yes, there are a few folks that come on these forums and make unsubstantiated claims to put down the truck or act like a fanboy and defend it at all costs. The fanboys and Tacoma haters don't want to objectively look at the data and facts both pro and con regarding this truck and use anecdotal evidence, personal experience (based on 1 truck - the one they drive) or point to their "feelings".

Those people are here more to defend their tribe and their ego more than anything else.

I've got a few of those people on my personal ignore list and appreciate Tacomaworld for giving us that option.

No, the OP. Your problems were after the fact. Most of the OPs list could/should have been identified during inspection/test drive.

"City kid" trucks? I remember quite a few country boys who loved their little Toyota Pickup or S10 back in the day.

I am a diehard Tacoma fan therefore I was giving my feedback to Toyota. I only buy Toyota Trucks and want them to fix the items I listed or at minimum I want to sound my voice.

I bet a lot of the recent members feel the same way. It is a great forum with lots of useful information- you will probably get better at avoiding threads you don't want to see as time goes by. The ignore feature works well.
I think the 3rd gen forum can only get better as these trucks will need repair and maintenance as they get older- too many good people here to give it up because of a few members posts.

I live in farm country (west of San Antonio), the most desirable farm trucks around here are the Suzuki Samurais. A POS Suzuki will go for $5k. Next would be older toyota 4x4's. The small tough trucks of the past are icons. They don't get stuck, they fit thru narrows paths and haul most of the things one would haul in a pickup. Big trucks are better at towing on the highway.
