The problem is the threads being spammed are not just from the few malcontents, it is also the people responding to them. It just fills the threads up with drivel, thread after thread.

Had to go to Toyota dealer today. Had to talk to the body shop about fixing the damage caused by the glass guys.. It was about a 100 mile round trip. Combination of Mountain, highway, and city driving. I really don't see how anyone can't like these trucks, such great trucks.
    Trucks Ive owned.
    79 Ford F250 with 460
    66 ford F250 with 390
    80 Ford F150 4x4 with 302
    76 Ford F150 4x4 with 390
    84 Ford Bronco with 351
    87 GMC 1 ton 4x4 with 454
99 Dodge 1 ton dually with cummins
05 Dodge 1/2 ton with Hemi
10 Dodge 1/2 ton with Hemi

    Guess I hit the lottery!
    Zero issues here!
Only thing I found wrong was the drivers side rear window pushed the molding out "misaligned window fixed"
That's why we have and use our warranty and find problems and get free fix. It's a new gen not a turd gen . It's only a turd if you find things to complain about. It's not a perfect world but Toyota especially the Tacoma is and always will be the best midsize truck on the market for reliability and resale value period.
Okay new gen got issues, that's what warranty and recalls are for. If you hate it sell it. Love mine and have had all 3 gens , a Dodge Ram Hemi , Ford Laramie F-150 and to many to mention but imho this is the best Taco to date.

Amen. I'll probably miss something important they say because if I see it's one of their posts, I've gotten to where I just scroll past it.

True, it's always the same curmudgeons on both sides posting in them (count me as one of them).

I guarantee these type of threads would soon relegate themselves to the 2nd and 3rdn page almost instantly if, dare I say, the fanboys would just ignore them and stop posting there. The Turd Gen posters will flock to these threads though, but there are only so much of them.

Turd Gen- really? and where would any of these threads be without the TacomaWorld OG Goons who were in the habit of shitposting in the 3rd Gen forum.
So TacomaWorld is in fact a revenue generating enterprise, correct? And villains boost ratings, so if things get out of control from time to time, it is just for the LOLZ's, right- all the world is a stage and so forth.

Pelfrey Front, CVT tiny, OME heavy,
Just found this thread, googled: “tacomaworld third gens suck” because I’m about over this new truck. Went from a 15 to a 17 and it is like Toyota built an ALL AROUND WORSE TRUCK, I’m going to rant now too.

For starters old truck: 2015 off-road ACLB, manual, 33s 3” lift, big steel pelfreybilt bumper and a roof top tent. New truck: 2017 off-road DCSB, manual, 32s no lift, no steel bumper, without the tent on top. Any guess which truck gets better gas mileage? Hah ya the 2015 got 16-17 avg, the 2017 is about 15 on a good day. And it is guuuutless in comparison. After I hear that the peak power is about 4200 I decide screw it im just going to scream it everywhere and low and behold I start getting 15.8. Ok so I need to run it between 3k-4K rpm, so let’s talk gearing, six whole gears to chose from. 4200 in 3rd is 65 mph, 4200 in 4th is up around 80. Sooooo 6 speed is just a gimmick because you have to be doing ludacris speed downhill to not lose all power in fifth or god forbid fifth.

17 is considerably shorter inside than my 15, I’m 6’1” and I feel like I have to slouch to see street lights under the roof.

I loved that the 15 oil filter was in the engine compartment and super accessible (though a few rags were handy), now I have to buy two special tools and take off the skid plate to get to it on the 17.

    interior feels cheaper.

Go to turn up a song on the steering wheel because you need motivation to get on the freeway(and you have to rev it like an Indy car), and you end up picking up your phone, really kills the vibe.

    it’s ugly

    it’s stupid

my wife just says I’m in mourning, but it feels like I’m driving less of a truck and something built more for some rich kid who wants a cool truck with its stupid ass go-pro mount. More for the car crowd.

I do like the lip on the shift knob......oh that reminds me, the gears feel a lot closer together physically, like you have to thread the needle more when trying to slap gears.

I like the charge port in the center console, though the wireless charge pad hasn’t worked right for me.

cup holders are tiny, I could fit two Nalgene bottles in the center console of the second gen, and two in each of the access cab doors. 17 cup holders are tiny.

quick sand is a rad color period.

ive had a 90 manual Toyota pickup, 95 manual 4Runner, 00 manual tacoma, 15 manual tacoma, and now this 17 manual tacoma, so you can say I have a type, not just a generation fanboy, and never before have i started looking at another brand until now.

my wife is probably right about me being in mourning, and I guess I might be biased towards my 2nd gen, but man that was an all around rad truck, I drove the shit out of it for 70k and had no real issues, loaded the plastic bed to the rails with paver blocks, loads of sand, concrete dump runs, and did truck stuff, it just worked.....for me.

if someone has a clean manual late second gen 4 door and wants to trade, hit me up, seriously.

I love the back and forth on this rant. Reminds me of how my brain processes anger as well. It’s dumb, it’s stupid, fuckin love the color! It’s ugly, charge port is pretty cool. Haha, hope you learn to love it or trade it for something ya do love. I know the feeling of giving up a vehicle you absolutely LOVE for something else that doesn’t compare or is drastically different.

I had these exact same feelings. Knowing I couldn't get a 2nd gen, I am starting to actually like the 3rd gen. But you are right it is not the same truck. I wish I could put my 17 body on my 13 frame, essentially just have the 4.0.

When I got the 3rd gen, I had to put on door sill protectors, mudflaps, upgrade the headlights and so on. Things I never had a issue with my 2nd gen, I loved that truck and I still cuss out the POS that totaled it. However with that said, all of the creature comforts that come with the 3rd gen, I don't think I could live without now. I was really worried about towing with the smaller motor and it actually does ok, once you get used to it. So my advice is to get tuned first and foremost, then to the accumulator delete mod (you'll thank me later). My truck in particular runs much better with ethanol gas, which is complete opposite from any other vehicle I have ever driven. Once you find what works for you and your truck stick with it. I too, like you was looking for a new truck days after purchase, but with the stupid market the way it is I have grown to like the truck after several mods just to get it to daily drive the way I want. I still really want the low rpm torque but sadly it seems Toyota has moved away from that. We will see what the 4th gen has in store, but I don't have my hopes up. I had planned to get a 3rd gen 4 runner along side my 2nd gen Taco. I still want the 4runner but will have to wait a bit longer now. I am a manual taco fanboy as well. Cheers!

Serious question. How do you drive that you need to be in the 3-4K rpm range? If I drove my truck like that, I would be getting speeding tickets everyday. Lots of power below 3k rpms even on the stock tune. I never have to go over 3k with normal driving, I shift at 2-2.5 k rpms, and I live in a busy metropolitan city with crazy drivers. I really don’t get it.

Per my fuelly, I’m getting 18.5 mostly city driving with C load KO2s 265/70/17.

Edit: I can cruise easily in 6th going 35-40, even go up slight hills.
