Just wanted you to know, after reading your post, we are now good friends. Holy crap. Half the posts are so effing dumb on this forum. I hate that the internet has made people think that their opinion means something and it needs to be emparted on all the rest of us "morons."

2017 Taco with zero problems. I love the truck. Tons of improvements over previous generations, which makes it the best of all the gens and the best looking of all the gens. What's not to like.

I love watching idiots cry and complain about some of the dumbest things I have ever heard of.

For those incabale of getting sarcasm..... I am being sarcastic.

I should have stopped at number 1 after seeing all the stuff I’ve seen turd gens do off road. And then you go on to complain that a pick em up truck isn’t aerodynamic.

no shit Sherlock. It’s a truck. The hell you expecting?

I purchased a 2021 Tacoma Sport in January... It was not the most prudent financial decision for me, but I wanted a V6...

    These were my considerations:

    - V6
    - 4 wheel drive
    - Access cab
    - Tow package
    - Manual transmission

Just took the truck in for the 10,000 mile service. I've owned 3 Ford Rangers and this is my second Tacoma.

I LOVE my Tacoma! Toyota makes an AWESOME product! I cannot believe the folks complaining here... The fact that I can get a manual transmission truck in 2021 is incredible!

If I had any complaint, dump the fake hood scoop, other than that, the truck is PERFECT!

I've also driven older GMC's with an inline 6 and 3 speed transmission, there is no comparison...

    Just my thoughts...

Head unit only works if you think in japanese.

Anyone here old enough to remember Firefox? Clint Eastwood? When he had to think in Russian to fly the damn thought-operated fighter jet?

I don't understand the visual gripes. OP, as someone mentioned. Did you buy this truck blindfolded?

I call bull on it not being a serious off roader, there is too many people out there doing exactly that for you to be making this claim. Are there better vehicles? Sure, but it doesn't meant this isn't one.

The bed's cubby covers will be fine, I actually hauled two tons of gravel last year on my 5footer in four trips. There are some scratches here and there from the stones but the covers are fine. Go a head and put a 1/2 ton of gravel there, you sill see that you have nothing to worry about.

I agree MPG sucks, but it's a truck so I don't care and I actually make it work from time to time. Trucks MPGs always suck when they're doing work. EPA ratings mean nothing.

As for reliability. There are already several trucks with over 200k on this engine, OP you're wrong on that one too.

    Edit:

I think all these complaints come from the fact that the engine is a slow dog off the line. Even in my MT I'm constantly left behind. So yeah, it's not the most "fun" engine. If it was faster, I bet a lot of complaints would be non issues.

Check out my build thread (Beginning of Money Pit)
What my recommendations to toyota, if I had input are this:

    1. Widen wheel wells to accommodate 285s, from the factory.
    2. Any 16 inch wheel should be 16x8 or 16x8.5
    3. Location of TSS sensor should be smaller.
    4. LCA should be moved forward by 1 inch min.
    5. Sway bar disconnect should be factory on TRD O/R and Pro models
    6. Wiring harness should be more protected (ive had multiple issues with mine)
    7. Change the coating on the wires, rodents shouldnt be attracted to them at the rate they are, and this should be across the lineup change on all Toyotas.
    8. Non carpeted flooring should be an option.
    9. Front E Locker should be optional on trd pro & O/R
    10. Interior plastic should be more resistant to scratching
    11. Tundra steering rack.

And then the pipe dream of offering the same tune/ turbo offered in the lexus that shares our V6, a turbo diesel option and obviously a solid axle front option because if Im dreaming it might as well be large.
