Madison is nice, born and raised, current job, a little liberal for my taste. Last winter not bad by Wisconsin standards, only a handful of subzero temperature days. They’re just getting tedious after 50+ of them.

Yeah don’t like being cold anymore. Going out in it to move snow just makes it worse. It’s always colder after the storm in the winter. Wet snow becomes a frozen mess if you let it sit.

Heck yes.....pooch out having a great time and getting to be a dog!!

A decent lead in to Moab is a stop down here in the San Juan Mountains of southwestern CO (Ouray/Silverton/Telluride). You are welcome to use our spot as a patrol base to explore the incredible "jeep" trails in the area (the old mining roads; now forest roads). September is great as most of the tourists have left. Early to mid October the leaves will be changing. Most of the snow at that time is up at the highest passes and generally melts off. Tons of exploring with your rig here, hot springs (natural, not the Sulphur smelling kind), and endless hiking.

Yes...I saw some other posts about Utah. It is absolutely supreme out there too! Arches and Canyonlands can be seen while you are in the Moab area (don't miss Deadhorse Point State Park; it is in the same spot too) and Capital Reef, Bryce, and Zion are as you head south west. UT also has a great state park system. Heck, may as well push south then to see the Grand Canyon. If you are by the south rim of the park by Williams, AZ, one could go west a bit to Seligman AZ (one of the more quirky Rt 66 reminiscent towns out west) and do the section of Rt 66 to the west through Kingman AZ, and take the desert mountain road over to Oatman (very small historical mining town; still has it's boardwalks, as well as the daily herd of wild donkeys in town) and drop into the Colo River valley by Needles CA (nothing notable in Needles; best to go north to maybe see Vegas or Death Valley).

Safe travels!! I look forward to reading about your follow on adventures!!

Congrats to both of you for taking the plunge into your adventure! My wife and are right on the verge of doing the same thing. We will be watching your travels as you update! If you're going to make it to Colorado, I can share some great spots and maps via GAIA GPS that we ventured on. Your rig is better suited than mine so you'll really enjoy some of the trails we adventured on.
