The base on the Taco mirrors is larger than the mirror base of the Dodge mirrors also.

Measured my Dodge mirrors tonight the bottom measurement at the door is 6" on the Dodge mirror. The verticle measurment or the straight side of the triangle is 7 3/4". The angled measurment is 9 1/2".
    Hope this helps you out.

I needed a switch for my power mirrors, I installed powervisionmirrors.com from a 98 chevy for towing mirrors. Power extend/retract 6-way electric mirrors. I found a rocker switch,DPDT 6 terminal, momentary on/off/momentary on, 20 amp. 0.83x1.45 mounting hole. From Grainger.com #2LNH4. They also sell different ones as in on/off style. I'm just glad I didn't have to cut my dash up.

    Thanks Vince.
I seem to have found a solution. I bought these Grand Aero Towing mirrors: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0060NOHM8/ref=wms_ohs_product?ie=UTF8&psc=1
They seem to attach without doing damage to my OEM mirrors, and the minimal amount of vibration I get is tolerable -- about the same amount as from Mckesh mirrors. They are easy and quick on and off. Quality seems excellent.

The McKesh mirrors worked, but the straps vibrated and hummed -- it was intolerable.

Bought them and they arrived 2 days later. Took less than 1 hour to install. Wiring is plug and play. Instructions are excellent. Mike

Do you mean you bought the ones from 1a auto?

How is the quality of the mirrors and vibration?

    Thanks

...they fit great and look even better on my 2010 TACO...

    :D

They are plug and play for certain years, wiring is provided. I haven't connected my blinkers yet, but the wiring is pulled in so I can. Mirrors cycle great. I show a mounted comparison between the Left NEW mirror and the Right OLD unit installed. The foldaway size against the truck clears all drive thru and airport parking kiosks - the lady at the airport thought I was nuts taking measurements, but I was preparing for these babies to arrive.

Great instructions, packaging and wiring. Heater is a DIY, but the wiring is also provided and they even refer back to our site for the link on how to install your own setup based on one of our members threads...

BTW - In some states it's illegal to hang fake "anatomy parts" from your vehicles, like a polished set of oysters from your trailer hitch. I suspect once you start unfurling these bad boys in public, they'll find a way to say they are obscene as well...LMAO!!!

wingnut, do you have any pics of your truck from the front with those tow mirrors in the normal driving position? Thanks!

I looked on 1A Auto website and found the same mirrors that are power (no signals or heat) for $239, and a set that are manual for $154. They have a set for everyones budget!

Oh BTW, great job OP for the mod and "how to" on those Dodge mirrors.

I bought and installed a set from 1A Auto. I love the way they look and they made a huge difference. I forgot to get pics with them flipped up and out.

I wish I had the patience to do it myself with the Dodge mirrors like the OP did, no more projects for me....way too busy!

Thanks for the pics, I (the original poster) purchased a set in the group buys for my 2012. I wanted the Chrome with turn signals and heat. I am glad all of you that are putting these mirrors on are apreciating them.

I had seen these mirrors on a Tacoma and doing some research found this thread. Great info OP and others. After seeing the ones from 1A Auto I think I will try those. I hate the factory mirrors, especially coming from a 2000 F250 7.3 with the tow mirrors.
