Finally broke my Toytec-Eibach front coil lift springs after nearly 90k km. I still have the OEM coils. They are brand new.

Took to my mechanic and he said easier and cheaper to replace the coils and shocks with an all in one instead of using my OEM coils. The shocks need replacing as well.

    doesn’t want to use these.

They’ll be easier to replace if they come preassembled but I really doubt they’ll be cheaper unless you get no-name parts. If you need new shocks, minus well go with Bilstein 5100’s. Use the OEM coils and set 5100 to highest setting for about 2.5” lift, and put a 1/4-inch spacer on driver-side to counter the Taco lean. This was my setup for about 100K until I upgraded to OMU 2885 coils. Still running with the 5100’s.

    What, exactly, broke?

the coil apparently cracked and the OEM shocks are leaking. He says the amount of labour involved in doing shocks and coils separately, thereby using my OEM coils and just purchasing shocks, is such that it will be less expensive to just go with built-in.

Hey do it yourself! There’s at least 1000 videos on YouTube on how to replace shock coils struts on a taco.
