Wowwwwwwwwwwwwwww $6,000.00 for maybe if anywhere close to a 100.00 worth of thin plastic. Do you plan on driving it? Or shining it and leaving it on the front lawn for everyone to look at.

It sees more mud and muk than your parking lot princess. If one has 6 grand to put a bag of plastic on a truck , the OP has the money for a new paint job if he gets it scratched. I say the OP is full of shit.

I would be up every night thinking about what else I could have done to my truck with 6 G's. Your truck though! Welcome from another CO member.

    Then there's always this guy.:jerkoff:

OP posted pictures of truck getting wrapped. No need to come on his thread and trash him. I've seen $6000 spent on worse things.

Friggin Canadians always acting like chicks with dicks.. Where is the logic in spending 6 grand on a plastic bag?

If I was worried about scratches and dings I would have bought an older model Taco( as there are a few here for sale)then had a truck that I could have fun in and take it off road as he stated he wants to do! I was not trashing the OP, I am questioning his Decision that is all Candy..

    Stock for now...
My '08 had a wrap that dealer installed on the hood , door edges , fenders and such - it's basically the helicopter tape and pretty thick . Truck was done new by it's first owner and I do use wax/polish on the clear tape when I detail it , almost can't see the stuff . Local dealer says that kit they use comes with it's own installers (2) , a whole day in their detail bay with no one allowed near it , and a $2K price tag . Despite the age , it still looks great and can't see it from just a few feet away except at the very edges where some dirt/water deposits are getting under it . I will say this - it seriously protects against scratches and for a Pro costs , not a bad idea as it's resale value will be pretty high for a long time . Not to mention the atypical thin-ass Japanese paint jobs ....

6k???! That doesn't sound right. Guys in my area used to get a coating of 'liquid glass' paint protection for about $500 done to help prevent pinstriping scratches. You could have gotten an actual clearcoat paint done for half of that could you not have?

The Tacomas are made in America, paint included. But you are right that the factory paint is very thin and needs some protection..

So I live in town but in the wonderful state of Colorado, there are a lot of mountains that I go off roading in weekly. Like I said this is my first brand new vehicle and I plan on holding onto it for a long long time. My last Audi I sold had 140k miles on it and by the looks of the car you could swear it had 20k. I'm hoping to accomplish the same thing but still take it off road (and I will be providing pictures here as well)

My goal wasn't to protect it from boulders, but the brush along some of the trails that leave scratches down the side of the truck.

Nice truck. I would've spent the $6K on a supercharger.

The clear bra is actually not buffable. It is however completely clear unlike a lot of 3M bras that look like orange peal on your paint. You can come face to face with my truck and have no idea that it has paint protection film on it. Also, for any scratches that I do get on the clear bra, all I have to do is park the truck in the sun and the clear bra self heals itself and looks like new in the matter of a day

Suntek clear film has a wholesale price of $10/sq ft. So not only is it probably $1000-1500 worth of film, but also gotta pay a guy for 3 days worth of work. This shop is not your average corner store window tinting place, but a top of the line shop that regularly sees Audi R8s, Porsche 911s, etc.

And I'm doing this so I CAN drive it without worrying about scratching the truck up or ending up with tons of rock chips on the front end.

I appreciate your opinion, but the idea is to protect what I purchased. Personally I'm not a big fan of going "muddin" but actually going for drives through the mountains

My off road rig that I sold to get this thing:

Nice OP! Wish I had that clear film on my truck! I cringe at some of the scratches I've put on it.

Just picking your brain. Nothing against you personally. Most folks protect their trucks with steel armor not plastic. :)

Although it is quite a price to pay, it was worth it to me to protect the pearl paint. I'm not your average joe that doesn't care if my vehicle gets door dings, chipped up, scratched, etc. I'm still going to take it off road, just be a little more careful than I was with my pathfinder
