I'm not I'm not. It's not directed at anyone. Just being general regarding our vehicles.

Never said it was an investment or they'd appreciate. Just that it's rare, special and should be cared for, simply for the reasons you mentioned (to preserve it for me).

I know not everyone shops the same way, but unless something catastrophic happens to me or my vehicle I won't be parting with it. It's a perfect fit for my life and will drive it until it dies (likely until the frame rots out). Protecting the paint is a great way to keep it feeling new and looking good and being something that you'll want to be in 10, 15, 20 years down the road.

Wow. $6K is a lot, but when you think about it, a high-end color wrap of most cars today is in the 5-8K range. So if you figure a clear is harder since it has to be perfectly clear and the surface has to be cleaned as everything will show through, then suddenly $6K starts to sound reasonable.

Anyway, don't worry about all the criticism regarding how you spend your money. In the end, it is your money, you can buy a pool full of pistachios if you want because it is your money to do whatever you want with it. And, of course, we can't forget we are on an automotive forum so there's immediate disapproval if you don't do exactly what everyone else does and end up with another cookie cutter truck that's exactly the same as the last 50 build threads.

Truck looks awesome man. Props to you and keep enjoying it.

    Ding ding ding

Stop trashing this dude's build thread for his choices. It's not like he's doing a bunch of totally unsafe or ghastly mods...let him do his thing.

For what it's worth OP, I think the truck looks great!

Does the plastic wrap scratch? If you wheel it will it need to be removed and reapplied periodicaly?

FWIW I plastic wrapped a vehicle once too. Of course it was in the parking lot of the Fastenal warehouse I worked at when I was 16. I thought it was awesome too.

Good point. It's not like he's wrapping a dime-a-dozen TRDOR. He won't get the $6k back in re-sale, but when he does sell it he will have a pristine paint job of a special color on a rare truck. To the right buyer, that will be worth something.

He's probably serious, but it was likely Saran wrap and a practical joke on someone.

Toyota's are JUNK, i buy them because they last longer then the other junk out there. Buy the way, I own a 2012 Tacoma and a 4Runner, both can pull my Jeeps. We buy them to play/beat them to death!!!

737 is butt hurt because he bought a poverty truck and threw a bunch of stuff at it whereas the OP bought a nice truck and threw a bunch of stuff at it.

Best part is, if I ever feel like changing it up to a different color or clear again, all I have to do is peal off the film and I have a pair of brand new taillights. Unlike everyone that decides to spray paint theirs
