So I didn't know what I was getting into when my buddy asked for some help to haul some lumber to his house to repair his deck. As I have not yet used my new truck as a truck I was happy to help. Turns out he needed more than I expected. As we were gathering the wood in the store I began to wonder if I was soon to be asking too much of the little Tacoma. My fear grew as we loaded it all in the bed. But never being smart enough to stop until it's too late, we kept going. The truck handled the weight without even noticing, save for the rear springs. But the problem came in because of how long they were a lot of weight was concentrated on the end of the tailgate. Turns out I ended up destroying the bushing inside the right tailgate hinge. So until I replace it the tailgate sits a little off center when closed. I was happily surprised that the tailgate itself didn't bend or crack at all. We were only about 3 miles from his house, and it was all back roads so we went pretty slow to prevent sanding the tips off as we went over bumps. Not something I'm going to try again, at least not with lumber that long, but I did enjoy making use of the bed. Thanks for wasting your time to read my little story.

Lumber that long should be delivered. It's not worth the damage to your truck...

I think I would have left my buddy at the store as soon as I saw how long those boards were.
