Why align? I mean assuming he doesn't need one now.

I think a lot of picky items are discretion of the LEO around. Like if he has a reason he wants to ask you questions, look in your eyes, etc. , the tires are a legal excuse. Like front plates and other niggly things.

Doesn't have to be riveted/screwed. People literally double sided 3m tape this shit on and pass safety and then take it off in the inspection parking lot and drive away. lol

My advice would be to buy a set of steelies for next to nothing off of someone (lots of ppl give them away) and then sell your stock OR rims, and keep the steelies for your yearly inspection

All trucks are "commercial vehicles" unless you are able to by non commercial plates ,
but then you wont be able to carry anything in the bed

Tell this place to shove it up their ass. There is also a formal process to appeal an inspection rejection if you disagree (your tires are inside the wheel wells). PS, a rejection is actually a valid inspection, so if you have an R you have 10-60 days to get the problem fixed and you are still legal in that time.

This sort of "corruption" runs rampant in our state. The places need to make money off of something, so they fail you for the most irrelevant things so they get your money and you go elsewhere. It doesn't help they have secret shoppers and cameras always watching their back so they have no qualms failing you for something silly.

I'm getting back to NH as soon as possible.

Side note, I have passed 2 inspections now with my current setup. 4x4 vehicles are afforded different rules for lifts/tires in MA. See MA 540 CMR 6.

Only in California is this true.. Maybe other likeminded States too, but not most.

It probably differs by State as I have NC Tags, Commercial was only if you are using it for business purposes.

Commercial vehicles in MA are any vehicles with a GVWR over 10,001 lbs or have more than 5 wheels on the ground (a dually is commercial in MA).

I had this happen to me in pa. I run 265/70/17 on 17x9 -12 wheels. They stick out an inch? If that... I was failed for that along with having a separate switch for my light bar in my lower bumper and doing the fog light anytime mod... I politely said fu and took my business elsewhere
