My truck didn't pass inspection

This is not true... I have a F150 in MA and don’t have commercial plates. I can load whatever I want into the bed, i’m just not a commercial vehicle.

I would love someone to explain this to me also! I’m from MA, haha.



To the OP, find a shop that doesn’t have a complete asshat in charge. Don’t go to a stealership. Absolutely ridiculous that they failed you, shops like this are the reason people see no value in the state inspection process.

 

what was the light bar reasoning? i have a ton of lights and never have an issue

 

ZOMG, it must be SO SAFE in Massachusetts that they prohibit your tires from sticking out past your fenders! All the death and carnage caused by tires sticking out past the fenders that the rest of us suffer from! THE HORROR!

I think it may have been a Toyota specific policy, something along the lines of 'no aftermarket lighting accessories will pass inspection'

Come on guys - Stop going to the dealerships to get stickers... unless you know the guy they are going to fail you for everything that looks suspicious. Mom/Pop shops normally let things go by a lot easier than dealers. A dealer loses their ability to inspect cars then they're fucked for new sales...

To be clear, I didn't get a "failed" sticker or anything like that. The kid just said he couldn't pass and on the side said, come back with your stock tires / rims on.

I guess I'm lucky or just not modified enough??? Boch Toyota South has never given me an issue, we will see what happens now with cameras when I am due in August.

 

This! I worked in dealerships for 10 years. We were by the book with everything when it came to vehicle inspections. People would get pissed off because we wouldn’t pass their vehicle because the windows were tinted, seatbelt buckle broken, tread low, whatever the case. They had a lot more to lose than a small mom and pop shop and they have their own policies the techs must follow or we’ll they could lose their jobs, on top of being fined by the state and risking losing their inspection license.

 

Lol right! Everyday I see cars with ratchet strapped hoods, missing headlight assemblies, smashed in trunks/bumpers & all these are on the road. So much junk that should never be driven let alone on the interstate daily that blow by me doing 85mph.

 

MA is so fucking stupid. Inspections are straight money grabs. However the guy doing inspection was saying how there cracking down on shops letting people slide...Supposedly they have to take pictures of car with picture of person doing inspection and sumbit to state. When i was waiting I did see him taking pictures.

 

Yeah I took it to the dealer during a service out of convenience, I sure won't be doing that again
