Yeah, that's an awesome idea. Put the onus of the theft on the business he was parked at. Sounds legit. How about we blame the scumbags that stole it....novel idea.

I just want to know so I know where the area is and where to be on he look out for the van possible. Alameda is a little island nestled right outside Oakland and has 4 drivable ways onto/off the island and 3 of which are very close to each other.

Terribly sorry to hear this. I'm on Alameda too and I've seen your truck almost daily. I hope its found but if not, USAA is excellent coverage. I'll keep my eyes peeled just in case.

Where did I say to "put the onus of the theft" the owners of the business? It's up to them (any business) to work to keep the area safe for their customers if they want to run a successful business. Pretty basic really. And they have much more clout with local law enforcement that the OP does, I'm sure.

And really, thanks for the offer, but you don't have to lecture me about who is responsible for crime. I'm a Parole Officer. I work with those responsible on a daily basis.

    You're lucky.
Auto Club, State Farm, and Allstate have all told me that personal belongings would not be covered, only the damage to the vehicle and attached parts. They all told me to file a claim on my homeowner's policy for the contents.
Sucked when I lost $2500 worth of tools out of my '94.

That sucks man. Hope it all turns out well for you. Consider a DEI Viper Smartstart security system on your future truck. Real time GPS tracking. Works great for me.

I hope by ToolFan that you're talking about the band. Great band, btw.

Good luck OP. I had good luck with USAA in the past. They will take care of you.

Homeowners/renters insurance through State Farm will cover your personal property regardless of where the loss occurs. A separate deductible will have to be met, which often makes it cost-prohibitive to file unless you're out a lot of expensive stuff.

sorry for the delay, I have been creating that second claim for my personal property like everyone has said through my renters.

My truck was stolen from Jims coffee shop back parking lot. I love this place and I have parked there at least 30 times before.

Spoke to the officer who took the report today and he had no update for me, so the search continues. Its really depressing shopping for another tacoma, when I had already done a lot of what i wanted to do to mine. My wife wants me to consider switching teams to a 4runner. does anyone have any experience or advice on those?

There's a few people on here that have them and like them. It's all in what you want/need really. A truck or an suv. They are nice vehicles. Couldn't hurt to test drive one to see...

Wow, OK you want to go there with this thread. Sure why not. I always find it amusing when people like yourself criticize public servants. In an indignant tone of voice he says, "I pay your salary, so I can judge how good you are at your job even though I've never done the job or really have any idea what it entails. But gosh darn it I pay your salary so I'm entitled to abuse you as much as I want." Bullshit. You couldn't do half my job on your best day. An 85 offender caseload of everything from stealing to murder and everything in between.

Gee, sorry we're not providing enough "services" for your poor little convicted felons. I'm too busy writing reports on the ones who don't have any intention of actually working for a living, but would rather do drugs, and live off of the hard work of others.

For those who actually want to turn their life around there are jobs out there and they just have to (Horror of horrors!) go out and find them like any other person who has abided by the law. Gee that sounds like a lot of hard work. (Big whine here!) "Don't you have a list of place that will hire me?" Get real. I'm glad you're hiring offenders. Call the P&P office any time you need someone. I don't know a PO who wouldn't give a heads up to their offenders if they hear someone is hiring.

My experience has always been that those who want to work and improve their lives, find jobs and are the type of employee you describe. They don't need any special "programs" or "services" or butt wiping, they get up in the morning and go out and work and are glad to be doing it. Unfortunately they are the minority, maybe about a quarter to a third of my caseload. The second third muddle through and work poor paying jobs and appear to have no desire to improve their life. They'll complete their supervision, but will probably be back in a year or two because they can't quit taking the shortcuts or stay away from the drugs. The last third are the truly criminal. They are many times sociopaths who have no desire to work or play by the rules. They will be glad to victimize you or anyone you know, including your mother, to get what they want and will sleep like a baby after. Usually they are back in prison within a year of being released.

If there's a revolving door, it's squarely at the feet of those who are willing to go back to prison rather than be responsible hard working citizens. But if you want to believe it's my fault and I'm just sitting around with my feet up, sucking that "gubment" tit, go ahead and continue in your delusion.

And if you think it's a waste of you tax dollar, how about we go without POs and just let offenders out of prison with no monitoring? (Maybe you'd like to go without police too.) How about we have a whole house of freshly released offenders move in next door to you. Maybe you'd like some of them to date your daughter.

It's immature and ignorant to even think you have any idea what my job is like or how best to do it. I'm done here.

I hear ya on the depression note, I'd be really bummed out without my truck. I had the pleasure of riding in Forerunner's 4Runner Trail last weekend. Went up truckhill in Hollister no prob. The crawl control and traction features are pretty awesome. I'm not getting rid of my Tacoma, but I'm trying to convince the wife she needs one.

I'm no expert on the situation, but I am 99% sure Forerunner has an OME lift on his Trail Edition. I know it wasn't stock height. Do you know why you (maybe) can't lift? I'm guessing it may mess with the drive modes, but could prob be reprogrammed...
