Dood. It was a Crown Vic. Those will go 300k on veggie oil.

    He mentioned the Flashpoint/Fuel Dilution.

Does that mean some of your fuel is getting in your oil?

That doesn't sound good to me, but is it normal for a little bit to sneak in there even with an intact gasket/rings?

Yes, that is what happens. There is always some blow-by. Rings actually have a little gap in them and they are offset.... plus there is clearance for the ring lands. Gotta have some clearance for everything to stay happy. Also, if you notice, they numbers haven't really changed since I first started. The trend is what's important.

The flashpoint is apparently, an acceptable amount. I looked up the flash points on Mobil's site, which is way lower for the two 0W-20 oils they list.

Awesome that's what I figured. The trend does look pretty steady, I'd almost be impressed if you managed to blow the rings or the gasket at 60k.

Great data, thanks. I'd love to see this same data from those claiming to use cheaper oils as well as amsoil etc to see any actual differences.

    Btw I'm a Mobil 1 junkie.

If anyone's interested, I had a test done on my oil for the 2.7L. 40k on truck, 10k on oil, it had been changed every 5k until that point. Screenshot_20190412-151955~2.jpgPretty happy, I'd been doing 5k just because I enjoy it and it's cheap to diy. Haven't decided what interval going forward but it's nice to have proof 10k is no problem. Mobil 1 0w-20 because it had a rebate going.

It's tough to beat lab results even though there are people that will try. I've done extended drains for years with no ill effects.

Great info. Thanks for the post. Has been a concern of mine as my dealer offers lifetime synthetic oil changes every 10k. Looks like ill be good to go

    Looks low on potassium.

Maybe you should throw a banana in there with the oil changes.

I appreciate this thread, so thank you for sharing this info.

Can you imagine the TW shitstorm that would ensue if someone started suggesting 12K oil changes? We barely survive a week without the 10k interval argument coming up as something worth dying for.
