200 lb Leer helped my truck. Losing the worn out BFG T/A KO brick tires and putting on some Michelin all seasons really helped it.

Would one not assume that Toyota set the U bolt torque to the OEM specs when they installed the TSB springs ?

    ^^^who knows ?

anyhow...here is a little link describing all the functions ubolts have in
keeping the springs tight and fixed in place, or allowing some movement

Toyota must have decided the specs they use (which people think is way too low) are the sweet spot between centering pin wear and spring sliding, vs keeping it all tight and fixed in place, and ride quality. super tight will result in stiffer springs since they won't be able to slide as much and bend as much at the axle

I agree that adding a bit of weight in the back end does help the ride quality quite a bit. However, there are pros/cons with adding weight so to each their own!

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Sensatrac shocks. My 3/4 ton diesel's shocks were shot when I got it and rode like an old hay wagon, put sensatracs under it and it rides like new. Doesn't jar me to hell and feels comfortable on the road, the shocks soak up the bumps with ease.

It's my understanding that the overload doesn't really do anything until you, well, overload it. I guess I'm wrong?

The overload helps keep the leafs from going into negative arch and support them when loaded

you just dont have an opposite arched leaf fighting against the progressive leafs when articulating, flexing, etc. of course its most noticeable when loaded.. or over larger bumps like speed bumps.
