Damn. Pretty crappy stuff happens around here. My neighbor a few streets down had her car put on blocks a while back.

This has happened to two of my neighbors. One had his suv stolen while it warmed up. The other neighbor heard his son's car window get smashed and came up on the guy right as he was driving off. He reached in to grab him and got dragged down the road before he gave up. He was damn lucky all he got were a few scrapes.

I'm in Nebraska so I have to warm up my truck in the winter. It's a manual, I don't think autostarters are an option. I'll try locking the door with a key. I didn't think to try this, I just knew the key fob wouldn't work and had been risking it all winter. Good thing I leave the house too early for any of these assholes to be awake.

Compustar is the only company I can think that has an alarm/remote starter that is manual transmission safe...

I will for sure. I walked down to the drainage ditch where the guy dumped my truck. It's fawking deep.

When row trucks got to it, probably 45 minutes after it was stolen, it was still running.

And for some sort of perspective, I had a backpack on the passenger seat, it was completely soaked. With mud and weeds in/on it. I was able to get that back.

The Directed Electronic companies (Viper, Python, Clifford) allow you to do it with manual transmissions also, specially if it has the clutch override switch. If it doesn't have the override, the only option for remote start is to leave it in neutral all the time.

    Update....

Went and checked out the truck at the tow yard just now...

Smells like ass inside ahh. Water was up to the drivers side window. Angled down to probably the top of passenger seat.

There was water in the oil. Air box was full of water. Engine looked fully submerged. I turned the key and nothing.

Talked to insurance today. I'm all covered. Depends on their decision now. They are towing it to their lot tomorrow.
