1996 2.7 3RZ-FE I recently got a EGR delete kit. I installed it and a new throttle body gasket. One thing I did while cleaning off the old gasket I sprayed the throttle plate with carb/parts cleaner and wiped some debris off the throttle plate. I waited about an hour before starting in hopes it dryed. l tightent it all back up and now I have this whine from within the engine I think and it won't stay running. It ran fine before doing any of this. If you want more info or video ill have it on YouTube. https://youtube.com/shorts/YVRlH8o3rQ8?feature=share3 whatever help I could get I'll be greatful. Thank you for adding me!

Out of curiosity what did you do with the water supply that went to the egr valve...
and then the hose from it to the iac?

I ran the water line straight to the iac. I figure if it's a circuit so just put it there instead of blocking it off.

2" suspension lift, rebuilt engine, egr delete, counter balance shaft delete, cold air intake to clean up the engine bay, slightly modified LC engineering full exhaust, home brew electric fans and moved the battery to the bed for fun.
Put the clamp back on the vacuum line running from the throttle body to the brake booster and the air inlet tube line to PCV valve. You can see where the clamp was sitting before at 40 seconds in your video. The maf code should clear once the truck runs right.

In fact, check all your vacuum lines and make sure they aren't cracked out from moving them around.

Hey everyone, sorry to open up an old thread but just deleted my egr system and was having some trouble finding where all the vacuum lines run and what gets deleted, thought I connected the lines properly but it just cranks and no start. 1995.5 3rz

And a couple more, if I could see some engine bay pics with egr deleted and where those lines are supposed to run that would be amazing!! I’m lost with this…

    Yeah.
Hopefully someone will chime in with pics. I would suggest picking up a Haynes manual for your year model. There might be diagrams in it that would help, but on a truck that old, you will need the Haynes manual at some point.

I think the rear is OK....you have to vent the canister back into the intake....

but but that front is some weird ass stuff......

    here's a pic what a 98 looks like.

I have the Haynes book and can’t find a good enough diagram to tell me what I’m looking at and what I’m looking for.

Removing the egr is not a good long term plan.....

If the truck is in its end days or near......, its no big deal....

BUT for the engine to run cooler has proven to make it last much longer.

Egr is a cat temp feedback controller to keep the headers and head cooler....

its not really a fuel economy target as most believe....

the japs dont waste money on bullshit.....

So would it be worth it to clean the egr and reinstall it? It didn’t have a cat when I got it and right now it’s throwing p0170, my reader tells me what the problems are, reads the o2 sensor, cat and egr which is why I did the egr delete. Just want this thing to run right.

Man as a cyclist......I hate egr.....
......unnecessary complication, interduces many failure points and potential vacuum and coolant leaks...
has to be de-carbonated every 100k or so.

but toyota really knows their stuff.....they over designed these....and can last forever if you follow a number of rules.

One of the rules is you dont mess with the engine sensors...... stick with oem......and carefully consider all mods...
If you take that egr away....the ecm will always be hunting for the sweat spot.

Some trucks are worse on the way that heat backs up the headers and damages the engine...

If you notice ......alll the gasket failures end up being on that exhaust side....usually one of the center two....

Sometimes shit still happens when you've done everything right...

3Rz and 2Rz are notorious for head gasket failures........the 6's ...5vz...not as much.....

If you notice the successor to these .....next gen 2az's, they increased the cooling jackets significantly.....

Too bad about the oil rings......
