Well I finally got some time and a friend to take my truck into the dealer to Salt Lake this weekend to get it worked on for an oil leak. I believe this is the TSB for it.

    http://www.xr-underground.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7234

I will be leaving it there for a whole week since the dealer is 140 miles away from me one-way.:( Oh well, I have a daily driver to get me to work and back so its all good. Has anyone taken in their truck for this similar issue? I know it involves lifting the entire engine up.

Oh and just for shits and giggles I still need to swap out my spark plugs so I asked the service guy how much they charged "just" to swap out the plugs and he said it was $150 and some change!!! I was like WTF?!?! I said never mind, I'll change them out myself!!!

Link doesn't work, are you still in warranty? I thought they would only do TSB's under warranty unless you paid out of pocket?

Oops...another link posted up top and it should work now. Yes, my truck is still under warranty so they are going to fix it free of charge.

I used to but I'll have to look for them on my computer.

before you deliver your truck to dealer clean up engine bay really good. Dealers dont do this and al lthe dirt that was hanging out ends up in places that normally would not. It does not kill things immediately but definitely shortens vehicle life.

Yeah I need to power wash the engine bay cause its pretty dirty from the last few wheeling trips. That and the fact that I dont want to give them a reason for them to say I was misusing the truck and then not fix it. But it was leaking way before any wheeling trips. I just didnt have any time to get it to the dealer.:(

Its not even that. Service guys won't clean anything so if you have sand on your tranny line while being disconnected guess where that sand is goign to end up. Same with everything else. Thats why I dont like going to dealer for service most of the time its goign to be worst after the visit. unfortunately Toyota started doing service like other companies so no plus here.

Oh I see what your saying. Yeah I'm not a big fan of taking it back to the dealer but with my warranty still being good, I dont have any other choice really. And if they F--- it up after I get it back, I'm not one to keep my mouth shut.

Yeah if you clean up really well it should be good. Nice power wash and you can always run leaf blower to remove anything else loose. Make sure you clean whatever area they going to work on.

Hey Aaron so your trucks good to go now though? When did you get yours done?

Yeah like I said, I'll probably just power wash it real quick. I'm not worried about it being super clean.

actually it turns out the timing cover wasnt the problem, they found a hole in my oil pan that my steering rack punched thru cuz I kept jumping my truck, but the fact that they looked at my truck and said they'd fix the timing cover gasket no questions asked means something

X2...or could someone post a picture with an arrow pointing to the general area where the leak happens? From what I understand it starts on the passenger side around the power steering pump between the timing cover and engine block...is this correct?

Well....just got back a little while ago from dropping the truck off at the dealer. Of course I got the "nice looking truck" talk from the service guys.:D I saw some pretty sick looking 2011 TRD TX Pro editions and they looked sweet!! I love the rims they come with!!! Might have to be my next mod!!

Well just got off the phone with one of the service guys and said it is the "Timing Cover" that is leaking oil from my truck and is one of Toyota's TSB's. I need to get my tires rotated and balanced but they charge $40 to balance them so I said never mind cause I have a lifetime rotation and balance from Discount Tires Inc. I just wanted to see if it was free of charge but obviously not!!! He said the truck should be all done by Wednesday of this week.
