white, 2017 Trd sport dbl cab.

Picked it up and noticed when I got home under different lighting. Gosh, I'm very disappointed.

Firstly some small things that I'm ok with if the dealer takes care of them which they said they would. When I got it home, i noticed the rear carpet had 2 big round stains on it. It has a clicking noise from the left front and roughly vibrates when it's about to shift. Brakes pulsate when on pedal coming from 100km or soo. Got to bring it back in.

Most importantly I noticed there is 3/4 different shades of white throughout the truck. Each door is different, fenders different etc etc.

Has anybody experience this? Dealership wants to paint whole truck but I feel that will decrease the value as we all kno orig paint demands more money come sale time.

I called Toyota head office and they said dealer problem. Whaaaaat?

Any recommendations on pushing this further?

    Thank you.

New Cars are often painted fenders or bumpers due to porters fault or issues at the port

    Most customers don't know

Sounds likes yours is quite obvious

    I wouldn't take a repaint from dealer
I would hold them to exchange it for a a new truck or take them to court

For Toyota to say Dealer Problem sounds a little fishy. I would push for some more information on this vehicle. Was it damaged at port or at dealer? Lets see some pics before we can jump to conclusions here.
What kind of lighting did you notice this in? Outside natural light is best. If you noticed in your garage that may be your issue.

There is a thread here with ones painted MGM, passenger side is different shades, Toyota must have a process of painting parts at different times or something.

The front and rear bumpers on my Quicksand are a shade off. I never even noticed until someone swiped me in a parking lot. Took it to the body shop for an estimate and the employee pointed it out. It doesn't bother me, but the difference is very subtle.

Thanks for all the replies gents.

I'm well aware/understand the difference between metal and plastics finishes being a different shade (although, I still feel it can be a little better than current) and can let that slide. The real issue are the doors, cab, front fenders. Night/day difference. I have had multiple people straight up ask if I had it repainted/been in an accident already.

It's best seen in natural day light. I will get some pics and post.

The dealer said they have seen plenty of white trd's with similar paint variations. I'm disgusted this is today's standard in toyota trucks.

Again, will get pics. Thank you guys

I work in the auto industry and have worked with several different OEM's, believe me this isn't just a Toyota thing. Nissan is really bad about it but it happens with all of them. Next time you see a pearl Nissan look at how different the bumpers are compared to the fenders.

Dealer is a moron. I have had 3 pearl white Lexus (LS/CT/LX) and they were perfect.

You paid good money for a new truck. Expect your money's worth, and make Toyota/Dealer stand behind the product. Go through the proper channels.

Showing us pictures isn't gonna make a difference since you had multiple people IN PERSON ask if the car has been repainted.

Forget the internet armchair quarterbacks. Make the dealer/Toyota face the music.

    DONT ACCEPT IT

You're right. I'm going to clear my morning and get on the horn.

I also have had 2 brand new Lexus and a current 16' is300 FSPORT white and it's perfect. Not 1 issue.

I will continue this thread with updates as I receive them

If his is anything like the one in this thread it has nothing to do with bumpers and fenders and I haven't noticed this issue with other car manufacturers.

That's crazy, I'd have left that at the dealership. Of course if picked up at night or overcast, perhaps it would've been hard to notice.

I noticed my white nose cone has a slight yellow tinge compared to hood. I didn't notice it until my rock protection went on, so it may have more to do with it. Subtle, but different.

IF you are within a few days of purchase RETURN THE TRUCK. Most dealerships, and state laws for that matter, have return policies for within a very short window after purchase.

Cancel the sale if you can.

If you are past that point, stand your ground and make sure they make everything right. If you are concerned about resale value, then have them compensate you in a (reasonable) way that you are satisfied with. Remember, this is a business transaction. Act businesslike: firm, professional, and polite but get the goods you paid for.
