    back to bone stock.
you would get effed up a tad.

the cable is broken into sections. each about 20 feet long. if you fell at the end of one, you would slide the full 20 feet until you hit the next stanchion. it would hurt. the real crappy thing, you would need to wait until search and rescue came and got you. our harnesses tie on the back, you cannot pull yourself up. 45 mins is about the max until a blood clot forms in the leg from the harness cutting off circulation. you seriously do not want to fall. with some extra cord, you could form a step to take weight off the harness to last much longer than the 45 mins.

There are climbing lines that have sewn "fall" sections. It's sewn in a manner that if you do slip and fall there are sections that are designed to tear slow your fall significantly so you won't get jerked so bad and get whiplash.

On our harnesses we have trauma straps. They are little pouches with straps to step in, so if you fall you just pull them out and step into the loop and you can alternate between standing and sitting.

I drive lots of highway miles but also off-road every day, although 20mph speed limit on our turbine roads :(
It's more fun early on when don't have the roads built yet :) lots of wildlife still around too. On my current job there are some steep areas where we couldn't trench in underground cable and had to run overhead line. Some nice hillclimbs checking on those!

    Oh yeah? How's that?
This is Hatchet Ridge in Northern California, which we built last year. It's not far from Redding, near a small town called Burney.
