    Hey

    First post here.

Doing lots of reading and learning even more.

For those that don't know, Mycarfax.com is a place to keep track of maintenence and other such info for all your vehicles. It can also provide maintenence reminders based on thresholds you define. I've looked at the site after my initial setup and noticed my miles are 'rolling' ....

So my question is: How does Mycarfax get this info?

    TIA

I would guess it is just using the average algorithm. How close is it to your actual odometer reading?
Another possibility is if you have it linked to your phone, it could be using your gps. The only problem with that is if you are in a different vehicle, so, I would go back to it is just using a guess based on the national average.

Also note, you can use toyotaowners online or the app to do the same thing, plus it tracks work the dealership has done too.

Right now, I know it's moving .... I'll start a daily log and report back here.

BTW, the miles were rolling before I got the phone working with all the geegaws and doodads. The truck has built-in GPS, however ...

Hmmm .... is such 'monitoring' even legal?

I would say by you signing up you gave them permission. I don't use stuff like that as Toyota give you a nice place to record all your data.

No, it uses an algorithm but they have a large dataset so it is surprisingly accurate.
