Sorry to hear you got taken OP. If you do confront the dealer, be prepared. Research NADA, KBB for the value (condition, trim...) of what you DID buy and compare it to the advertised model you paid for. Demand triple times the difference (nicely) just for the situation to go away quietly...settle for what you think is fair.

Good Luck!! Please keep us posted.

Unforunately OP I think you are out of luck. The Due diligence to verify the trim level of the car before signing the document lands squarely on you. Maybe the dealer will make it right, but I wouldnt count on it. Live and learn I guess.

Did the dealer represent the truck as a Pro? OP says that the “Pro” idea came from CarFax.

Did the dealer advertise it as a PRO? Did the dealer supply you with the Carfax or did you get it on your own?

Every time I see a thread like this I highly suggest this!!!!

    https://www.toyota.com/owners/my-vehicle

Not only is it super cool to see all of your vehicles history since its birthing but they also have an app. You can track all of your services and recalls if they are out. It's off your vin so it's the most accurate information you will get. Hope this helps!

What do you mean? They've been talking to me for years now. They've even giving me a saucer ride a few times.

All you can do is go back to the dealer and talk it over. If it was advertised as a Pro, you may have some ground. If it was left to your interpretation based on the Carfax report, then you're better off moving on from this with a lesson learned.

Stick around for the ending. You won't be disappointed. Future posts will reveal that after driving through the car wash, the letter "R" from the TRD Pro emblems get rubbed off and the OP gets left with a TRD POO emblem. All hell breaks loose and local Toyota dealers are mysteriously finding dog poo flaming in the back of the beds of their Tacoma PRO editions in the middle of the night. Night video shows what looks like a Tacoma TRD PRO zooming off but further investigation of the perpetrator's tire tracks and the enhanced audio of the exhaust confirms that it was not truly a TRD PRO model. Police and dealers are puzzled.

    4 run, 2 don't
Buyer beware; you paid too much if you "thought" it was a Pro.

Take this as a lesson learned; now I want to find an older TRD Pro since I've yet to see one in person.

This is unfortunately pretty common with used car lots...shady dealers/salesmen know that most people don't know the difference so they'll call a regular SR5 Tacoma a TRD OR/Sport or call a TRD OR a TRD Pro to drive up the cost.

Shady thing to do but I don't know what kind of actions you can take after the paperwork is signed...there might be something you can do from a legal standpoint but after all is said and done, you might end up spending more $$ in the long run with lawyers and fees than it's worth.

I remember awhile back someone bought a 2wd Prerunner thinking it was a 4x4 because the dealer had it listed as one, that was kind of funny and sad lol.
