Little things called mountains tend to block cell reception very well when you're in their shadow

If it starts every time for the tech at the dealer they won't be able to "diagnose" anything. All they can do is recommend a few of the common failure items.. like a battery

If it was me I know a few places I'd be looking for an intermittent connection. Best of luck

This post is full of shit.
Battery or remote starter. Does not matter how long it's been installed. Corrosion will eventually mess things up.
And you were not stranded. Stranded means you cannot get home yourself. You have to call someone to save you. You did none of these things.

I feel like a bad battery meant you wouldn't have been able to start it at all without a jump. And I doubt it's your alternator as you had no issues driving it home.

Anything sitting in your passenger seat that could cause the passenger AB sensor to go on/off, like your tackle box, or beer? Anything under the seats that could have softset the AB connector? Reason I ask is I had a very similar issue in my old car; changed the battery and alternator only for the intermittent problem to recur about once a week, sometimes stopped at a red light and wouldn't turn back on... One day I noticed a plastic bottle under the passenger seat that was messing with the seat weight sensor, removed it and never had it happen again 2yrs driving after that.

I had an OBD plugin borrowed from a friend but it never gave me any usable codes for the mechanic to diagnose. The AB sensor would power off the vehicle and when I turned it back on it would clear the AB code so I never saw it to pass along

edit; also had an aftermarket remote start/lock kit (cobra) that I thought may be causing the issue at first too.

Changed thread title to reflect the fact the 2.7 drivetrain has nothing to do with the situation

In that case the the whole truck would not loose power. It has got to be a bad contact.

Ill go with the remote start causing funny things happening or a main feed to the fuse box with a untrue connection

    Different truck and motor.

But had an intermittent no start, and when it would happen you would get one click from starter solenoid and then everything went black.

Taking off battery terminals and reinstalling fixed if 75% of the time right away.

Eventual cause was one if two items, ground cable had split coating on underside. And positive cable going to the terminal connection was loose/failed. Replaced both cables around the same time and fixed it.

For all the ones bickering on “stranded”, how about “temporarily stranded”

I keep the one from Noco in my truck.
    https://no.co/gb40

Could it be..... A faulty diode in the alternator that is intermittently or slowly letting the juice flow backwards when the truck is off?

    minor tweaks
Bad/dead batteries don't "wake up", IMO there's a connection issue somewhere. It's not the starter, the instrument lights wouldn't be affected when the key in the on position if that was the case, the instruments get their power from a separate connection to the battery. It's not a drain on the battery ether, if it's drained it won't start without some external intervention like a jump start.

So according to the dealer service dept they:

-Tested the battery and found 644CCA at full charge (24F battery, 700 CCA)
    -Weak reserve
    -Voltage: 12.28 V
-They found no faults in ground wires
-Claim they tested alternator + starter and found no evidence of failure (without removing them from the vehicle)
-No blown or faulty fuses or relays
-They didn't go anywhere near the remote start (lol)

I got a fresh June 2024 production 24F and installed it last night and so far the truck starts completely fine every time

I'm still super confused and don't believe the issue is totally fixed..just a gut feeling tho.

Removal of remote start in coming days.

Actually I've been noticing for some time that the passenger seat airbag on/off yellow light above the A/C knobs has been randomly going on/off with no one sitting in the passenger seat!

Damn, this could be the missing piece of this weird puzzle. Maybe I should have that passenger seat sensor recalibrated/looked at.

I know they checked for codes with their 2 way scanner...would have thought an airbag code or something would have popped up?
