I fired up my truck this morning to a rattling noise coming from below, I crawled under there to see if i could locate the issue and traced the noise to something banging on the flex plate. In the lowlight I thought it was a stick lodged in there because I’d been wheeling the day before but I reached in and pulled this out. upload_2019-12-8_21-10-11.jpg

I assume its some sort of cover to keep the elements out of somethin up there but I’m hoping someone knows what it really is and what it does, and most importantly how necessary/urgent it will need to be replaced.

    Thanks Everyone!

Its an inspection plate that goes between the block and the bellhousing. You should be able to pop it back in unless it was bent.

The hole that you reached through, its probably the cover for that.

    100% the inspection cover.
looks like its missing the big piece of foam that goes on the top and keeps it nice and snug in the hole.

IMO you should buy a new one

Thank you I’ll be ordering one really soon, should I be concerned about that foam piece moving around in the power/drivetrain?
