Hey everyone. I’m new on here and just bought a 2017 Tacoma TRD Off Road, 40k miles. It’s been very well taken care of inside and out, a great truck. I wanted to ask if anyone knew what this metal piece is inside the glove box between the door and the box. It creates a bulge when opening the door, which is annoying from a fitment standpoint. I was initially thinking it was improperly installed at the factory. My local Toyota service department doesn’t know either. Any information would be appreciated, as I am ready to figure out how to have it removed.

OP, remove the door and see what’s stuck between there.

i had a weird glare off the dash in my other car, just this little glint between the leather and plastic portions, it was a freaking hair pin that had fallen into the crevice....

My guess is a name badge for work that the previous owner swore he put in the glove box that magically disappeared.

I would take the door off as previously suggested. I feel like there is some sort of tag hanging out of the glove box when the trucks are new. And the occasional “moo” sticker.

I remember some sort of warning sticker that was hanging out of the glove box during delivery.

I remember that too but olde age and memory has me stymied. I thought it was a passenger seatbelt warning tag I just pulled off???

Thanks for all the replies.. the pictures I posted weren’t clear enough.. it’s thin as a credit card and has some sort of writing on the bit I can see. Here’s two more pictures. Most likely I’m going to remove the door. It’s almost like a tag that’s stuck to the door.

I wish.. it’s metal and stuck flat. Is it a pain to remove the door?
