This bar was originally designed for a double cab and was designed to have bolts into rail mounts on the side rails where the rear legs sit. Since I had an AccessCab N-Fab made custom mounts for me.

Was the bar originally made for a short bed, which is why you needed the custom mounts to fit a long bed?

The bar itself is identical shortbed or longbed. The way the bar mounts to the truck is by using the rail system screws as a point of mounting. Thus you remove the screws holding the rail system up on the front rail and the side rails at the front of the cab and use the longer bolts supplied (as I noted, one screw was damaged, but they're easy enough to find replacements). On the short bed, the rear mounts the same way (utilizing a rail system screw as the mounting point). For an AccessCab the screw is in the wrong location, so N-Fab provided me with a nut to slide into the rail system that had a stud welded to it, and that stud protrudes through the bar and you use a nut to secure it.

It's basically utilizing the rail system for the rear mounts rather than the screw holes for the rail system. The bed bar was originally made for the Southeast special "T-Force" trucks which were all identical short beds. I had the only setup on a long bed with the mounts they gave me. I still have those to go with the bar.
