N2 Designs 3rd Gen Tacoma Plug n Play 6-ch Multi-cam + A/V Mirroring, Quad view + DVR Record

Is there an option that is just cameras, mounts, and wires/plugs? I don't particularly care for a unit that maps it to a quad view on my headunit or something that allows me to cycle with steering wheel buttons. I'd rather put my computer science degree to work and transform coffee into code.

Mirroring for anything you can connect the output of your phone via adapter to RCA, so yes. I think in your case it's "MHL" I believe. Android is less involved than Apple. It's not CarPlay so it's not exclusive to one OS or the other. In short, yes, most definitely!

Maybe a dumb question jimmy. Any chance of selling a kit with just the side view mirror cameras that would turn on when you turn on the left or right blinkers?

I'm sure this is child's play compared to the setup you're making.

 

Yup, available now. See post 1 for details (I edited them in). Special order. 7-10 business day turn around. That's the first kit, sold bare, it's everything you need for the blind spot detection, integrates the rear, and gives you 3 more channels PLUS A/V mirroring channel for smart phone mirroring. You get the two side view mirror replacement trim pieces, the two side cameras, and all cabling. All automatically triggered or manually toggled through the steering wheel. Slap a front camera on whenever you want and plug it's RCA into the modules respective "front" channel input and your front camera will come on automatically for 10 seconds when you shift into drive. Your OEM reverse will come on automatically when you shift to Reverse, Left/Right when you signal. All the other channels can be accessed through manually toggling through them via your steering wheel (including the A/V mirroring). I don't have anything that's just 2-channels, you get all the channels whether you use them or not.

All you need now jimmy is to mount the cameras further out on the mirror (like the 2020 Tacoma’s) so you can do Side cam AND MESO puddles!

I may need to get a sample left/right trim piece from you to mimic the bore, mine are pre-molded, and angling should be left where it's at for field of view purposes (it's as far out as possible) where as I think your puddles are happy with a flush bore and parallel to the floor?

 

@N2DesignsInc - how big are the modules/boxes? And does the dvr need to be mounted somewhere easily accessible to access footage and as well as overheat issues? And this is awesome u guys r making these mods. Thanks again!

 

DVR is about 6" x 4" x 1". There will be some suggested mounting locations to yes, allow you access to the SD card. It comes with a 16GB, max is 32GB. However, we personally would suggest purchasing a "WiFi" type SD card to access remotely via smart phone. Something similar to this (doesn't have to specifically be this one):



Then you can put the box wherever you want!

 

@N2DesignsInc thank u for that info. Also is the dvr a one box control all or is there another unit to add? And last ? I already have a rear and front camera. What would the cost be for the side mirror cams/controls to have all 4 cans as well as the screen mirror option with dvr, also if u can quote the same setup without dvr. (I dont need the all 4 view at once option either if that costs extra. Thanks again!)

Quad View or
Quad View/DVR is an add on.

The base unit/smart trigger plug in play unit comes with all versions. It's the basic kit you get for the lowest tier package. This kit only comes with side view cams and trims and mirroring input (not the mirroring interface, you'll have to purchase that separately, but that's not the rocket science part of the set up), as well as all the other extra 4 channels that you can put your front and rear camera on. If you have OEM rear, then there is nothing extra for you to do there, it knows it based on a connector you'll either plug in (if you have OEM rear, or not plug in if you have after market rear). That kit is ready to go, no MESO puddle holes (but you can drill those in until we figure out our collaboration with MESO on that). That kit is $420, shipped. The DVR option is a QuadView/DVR in one, price TBD, not released yet.

- Plug n Play Multi-cam w/ smart phone mirroring via Steering Wheel Control - NO QUAD VIEW/NO DVR ($420 - Available now by special order, 5-7 business day turn around). Does not include any extra cameras aside from left/right. Additional Cameras purchased separately, will be offered.

Will discuss with Stew the potential to create an injection molded trim piece that can accommodate both his MESO puddle lights AND left/right camera holes for those who have, or want to get the best of both worlds.

Required Accessories:
Adapter Cables required to interface your smart phone to an RCA cable (i.e. For an iphone, you would need a Lightning to HDMI adapter (sold by Apple), male/male HDMI coupler, and HDMI to RCA adapter cable for example). Not included, sold separately, not sold by N2 but we can provide guidance on where to source tested and proven products on say Amazon for example).

Special Custom Requests:
During roll out, custom requests will be queued on resource availability to accommodate, but will be queued lower on the list and will add considerable turn around time. Probably easier and faster for you to conquer it yourself if you understand A/V. Lead time would be shorter, and will save you some $$$. Not all requests can or will be granted.

The 10-14 day turn around is not just the assembly per order received, it's also putting in some hardware en route to me from other sources and well, I've learned the hard way not to under estimate things in which I can't control. I'd like to lean on the shorter side, but you know...Murphy's Law. Also, the non quad view/DVR kit passed QA, QC, testing and install. It's ready to be ordered, but best not to try to part out, piece out the kit, you should wait on the one you want, because you not only want to do this once, but I'm not stocking separate parts, so for you to change your mind and want an upgrade, you'll end up have spent more, and will wait for the component to come in.

I would be interested in knowing about this as well, since I currently have Meso's puddle lights. Is it safe to assume we could use a different camera mounted underneath the side mirror portion (instead of the arm of the mirror)? Or I could wait to see what comes out of a collaboration with Meso. Hmm, so many mod decisions...
