    Plugs will last longer than the tire. I once put six plugs in a cut and was able to drive 50 miles in Baja until I found a tire place had a shitty, bald tire that would fit.
    Buy a plug kit and an air pump and keep them together wherever you roam.

    I wouldn't think twice about plugging that. Get yourself a tire plug kit but spend the extra few bucks on one that has metal handles nut plastic ones. The last thing you need it the plastic handle cracking and the metal shaft going through your hand. I carry one and a small compressor any time I go on a road trip.

    Mine is a 2022 sport as well. It has a 16 steely. It's not the 17 inch my wheels are. The day I got my Taco I ran it to Discount tire stuffed as big as they could put on Falken Wildpeaks. My last Toyota I had crapy Toyo's on it and they were nail magnets. Replaced them with Wildpeaks as well. Lol my RAV 4 looked awesome with them!

    Most shops only do Plug-on-Patch now.
    You aren’t going to spit a POP, the plug is literally attached to the patch inside the tire.
    Plus, they seal much better. And not just air. Water intrusion from a poor fitting plug can cause the belts to rust and break.

    Basically, it all comes down to liability.

    If that were MY tire, I’d shove a plug in it and call it good.

    I got a rock chip which turned into a crack in seconds within my 1,000 miles. That ended up turning into a $500 expense. And I didn't even pay for the TSS recalibration.

    Plug it. I worked at a service station for many years and the advertising for the plugs we used was usable tire with 300 plugs in it. They were all over from the tread down the sidewall. That location is very doable. I would not hesitate to plug it. I too carry plugs, reamer and installer and a small pump in all my cars.

    @Horseshoez....
    My steel spare is the Hankook, but its 245/75/16. Toyos are 265/65/17.
    They are same diameter (30.5) which is all that matters for temp use as you know, but just wanted to mention it. Id guess you have the same. Yes?

    If it plugs, it chugs. Rode this one for over a year after having it plugged and patched before upgrading to new tires.

    Discount/America’s Tire all do free repairs and rotations. Their excellent service is designed to get you back in the store when it’s time to buy new tires.

    I’ve never had much luck with the cheap Slime brand plugs that Walmart sells. Safety Seal plugs are the way to go.

    Probably, I didn't actually crawl under my truck today (the weather was crappy and really wet); the only way I figured out the make and model of the spare was to stick my phone under the bed and snap a picture.

    I used those lawn mower tire sticky push plugs on the shoulders of 3 tires on one of my recent cars. Never leaked. Rode like that for 2 years. They just won't do it because it's a 'liability'. I would do it again. It's not going to blow out (i think). Worst case it'll go back to slow leaking, just have to keep an eye on it.

    Discount is super anal about where the puncture is. They won't do it unless it's towards the center.
