    Looks like the tail light plug. I'm sure there's a more technical designation for it, but I don't know it.

    Yeah it's for the tail light. I bought a cap and I don't want to tap the factory harness for the brake light so I'm going to make an extension and tap off that. I don't want to pay $45 for a towing harness when I only need a small part of it.

    A thing or two...
    Try the auto part stores. They might have repair ends, just the connector and a short length of wire. If they have both male and female, you can make an adapter.
