I'm not going to let the kids even fart in the truck so I don't think the inside will be an issue.

Does this live up to the hype? Never heard of it, but after watching some videos on YouTube it looks like a winner.

Yes. My truck is garaged, but I use it as a truck. I just re did it yesterday but truck doesn't get dirty and water slides right off. Last wheeling trip I was on a narrow trail and not a single scratch.

Yes it most definitely does. It was actually recommended to me by a local auto detailer and last fall (Sept) i did my truck .. it works great, the water beads up and rolls off and it seems dirt will not stick.

You can also try this. It'll give the paint a smoother feel but doesn't last as long IMO. I've got this too and have used it for years before I found the Sonax.

Two thumbs up on the Menzerna Power Lock. As has already been stated, it's not a coating, but a synthetic sealant and I've used it on both customer cars and my own vehicles for about 3 years now. Great shine, super slick feel and lasts decently long. Oh, and did I mention that it's super easy both going on and coming off?

The Sonax PNS is great stuff. Some people like a super slick surface, and that's one area where PNS is a little different. It's not as slick as, say, Powerlock, Duragloss, Megs Ultimate Wax, etc. But it's extremely durable and extremely hydrophobic.

Why do some prefer slicker? Personally, I like slicker products because the drying towel glides more easily. PNS feels kinda grabby on the towel (this can be remedied by using a drying aid). But ease of use is awesome with PNS. As is durability.

You've made a wise decision in my opinion ;)

Now get over into the detailing subforum and start browsing, asking questions, and find a nice synthetic sealer to tide you over while you research coatings a bit. Any of the ones I listed, in addition to PNS, would be fine.

Also- Meguiars has a new product out. Ultimate Fast Finish. Looks to me like a direct competitor to PNS. Haven't used it. Looks interesting.

    1) Never let the dealer touch the paint of your truck, they have no idea what they are doing. They will not prep you car properly which is a must when you are going to apply a coating.
    2) My recommendation would be either do it your self if you have the time and are willing to go through all the steps to do it right or I would find your self a good detail shop and have you car detailed.
    3) Regarding coatings vs a good old coat of a sealant and a wax, i am on the fence with this still and hope to make a better judgment this summer as I test a bunch of coatings.

Steps required to properly detail a brand new vehicle:
    1) Wash the Car (2 Bucket Method)
    2) Decontaminate the paint with Iron X then clay bar.
    3) Evaluate paint to see if the paint needs any paint correction.
    4) Polish Paint
    5) Apply a Good Paint Sealant

Trust me you will be amazed how much rail rust and road grime is in the cars paint.

I just did this for my father on his brand new Toyota Camry and he all most died when he saw how contaminated the paint was. To make it even better there was this much contamination and I told the dealer they were not allowed to touch the car or remove any protective films.

Dealers have no caring about the paint of your car, I have seen them wash a brand new car and then hit it with a rotary buffer. Then you get back a car that has swirl marks all over the paint and holograms everywhere.

In my personal experience a coating is far superior in protecting a vehicle assuming it lives outside. All of mine do. It is a big help when it comes to bird bombs...no etching. I have mainly used Optimum Glosscoat. Just had some body work done to the truck so thinking about trying a different coating.

I am fine with coatings and I think the technology is getting better every day from what I have been reading.

But there are two things that everyone must realize about Coatings, which you probably already know since you have used Optimum glosscoat.

    1) you have to prepare the surface properly to accept a coating.

    2) coatings are as good as you take care of them and they don't last forever.

If you have a coating applied and you take it trough a car wash regularly you will wear through a coating quickly.

Coatings need to be taken care of and maintained.

From a coating stand point I want to test the following this summer:
    Optimum
    CarPro CQuartz UK
    Geyon
And probably one or two others.

As of right now,me personally, I am still on the fence about coatings. I will begin testing them this summer. Plus I am going to have my lab run test for me on the coatings I test.

My company makes decorative laminates for furniture and automotive manufactures so we understand coatings very well.

Regarding a coating protecting better than a sealant, I am not 100% sure about that yet. I know I can layer sealants and apply waxes on top of sealants to create a protection that will last 6 months easily.

After 6 months if I maintain this regiment properly all I will need to do is wash the car with a wax remover apply a new coat of sealant and wax.

Three things to remember about any coating:
    1) Coating Thicknesd: the thickness (#of mils) of a coating determines the abrasion or wear resistance of a coating.

2)Coating Hardness: The hardness of a coating, this determines the scratch resistance.

3)Coating Chemical Makeup: this determines how the product cures and the chemical resistance.

    Questions:
    1) What did you like about Optimum Gloss Coat?
    2) what did you dislike about it?
