Right on! Yeah my preference is for a brand new Napa axle with the thermo boot instead of a reman Napa or a reman OEM. the route I went leaves me with a rebuilt OEM as a spare and a brand new Napa as a replacement

What is the diameter of the shaft on that Cardone axle?

That Cardone looks alot like this ODM. I wonder if they are the same just in a different box?

Typically if an axle is made by cardone the box will be the same with a different label. Not always the case though. But there's nowhere near as many CV axle distributors anymore. There's A-1, Heri (out of the USA now), GSP, Wonk, and probably 1 or 2 I missed. From what I've seen they are all similar quality. I've been to cardone and where they package the parts there's rolls of labels from all over (Duralast, Tough One, Napa, etc).

The real question is who has a front locker and what CV axles have they broken? Versus just the normal stress of wheeling. I'm looking at gears and front locker and I'm at 85k miles and just replaced a ball joint and stuff is starting to get worn.

    Anyone?

My Friends with FJ's have snapped the hellout of autozone and Napa CV axles which don't use the OEM Axles as they are thinner lesser quality metal.

Front lockers are EXPENSIVE on top of regear which is already expensive. If you have a front locker and you use NAPA CV axles I would venture to guess that you will break more axles than if you use OEM axles

I noticed my stock cv boot was leaking on one side, so I got the stock boot replacement kit from Toyota for under 60$ for both sides and replaced them myself. I think stock cv’s are the way to go. I had never done anything like this before, but watched a few YouTube’s and it took me about 2-3 hours for the first side and less than half that on the other.

Snapped a Oreilly axle less than 24hrs after installing my front locker, thank god i actually had a front locker in that situation or it would’ve been some serious work to get back home

went with CVJreman after that, i havent had an issue since and it’s been used heavily with 35'S

These puppies are still going strong with 35’s and moderate to heavy, responsible skinny pedal
